GREED RULES HUMANITY

The Holy Bible is a Book with Instruction that Few Follow.

If there are ·poor [needy] among ·you [your relatives; or your countrymen; your brothers], in one of the ·towns [gates] of the land the Lord your God is giving you, do not be ·selfish [hard-hearted] or ·greedy[tight-fisted] toward them [Prov. 28:27; 29:7, 14].

You will ·see trouble in my house. No matter what good things happen to Israel, [or watch with envy/distress/greedy eyes on all the prosperity I pour out on Israel. But] there will never be an old ·man[person] in your family [22:11–23].

But Samuel’s sons did not ·live as he did [L walk/follow in his ways]. They ·tried to get money dishonestly [were greedy; wandered after money], and they accepted ·money secretly [bribes] ·to make wrong judgments[and perverted justice/made biased decisions].

They ·brag [boast] about the ·things they want [cravings/desires of their soul]. ·They bless the greedy but [or The greedy curse and] ·hate [reject] the Lord.

They ·became greedy for food [developed deep cravings] in the ·desert [wilderness; Num. 11], and they tested God ·there [in desolate places; Ex. 17:7].

All greedy people end up this way; ·greed kills selfish people [they take their own lives].

·Greedy people [Those who get unjust gain] bring trouble to their ·families [L house], but the person who ·can’t be paid to do wrong [L hates gifts/bribes] will live.

Don’t ·be greedy [long] for his fine foods, because that food might be ·a trick [false; deceptive].

A greedy person ·causes trouble [stirs up conflict], but the one who trusts the Lord will ·succeed [escape].

“·Greed [The leech] has two daughters named ‘Give’ and ‘Give.’ There are three things that are never satisfied, really four that never say, ‘I’ve had enough!’:

They are like ·hungry [greedy; ravenous] dogs that are never satisfied. They are like shepherds who ·don’t know what they are doing [lack understanding; are ignorant; Ezek. 34:2–3]. They all have gone their own way; ·all they want to do is satisfy themselves [each seeks their own gain/profit].

I was angry because ·they were dishonest in order to make money [of their sinful greed]. I punished them and ·turned away from them [hid my face] in anger, but they ·continued to do evil [turned away in the way of their heart].

“Everyone, from the least important to the greatest, is greedy for ·money [unjust gain]. Even the prophets and priests all ·tell lies [act falsely; are deceptive].

So then, [look; behold] I ·used my power [stretched out my hand] against you and ·took away some of your land [reduced your boundaries; or cut off your rations]. I ·let you be defeated by [delivered you to the greed/desire of] ·those who hate you [your enemies], the Philistine ·women [daughters], who were ashamed of your ·evil ways [obscene/lewd behavior; even the pagan Philistines were shocked at Israel’s outrageous sins].

greed, ·evil actions [wickedness], ·lying [deceit], ·doing sinful things [indecency; lust; lewdness], ·jealousy [envy;evil eye], ·speaking evil of others [slander; blasphemy], pride, and foolish living.

The Lord said to him, “You Pharisees clean the outside of the cup and the dish, but inside you are full of ·greed [extortion; robbery] and ·evil [wickedness].

Then Jesus said to them, “Be careful and guard against all kinds of greed. Life ·is not measured by [does not consist of] how much one owns.”

They are filled with every kind of ·sin [unrighteousness; injustice], ·evil [wickedness], ·selfishness [greed], and ·hatred [evil; malice; depravity]. They are full of ·jealousy [envy], murder, ·fighting [strife; quarreling], ·lying [deceit; treachery], and ·thinking the worst about each other [spite; maliciousness]. They are gossips

But I did not [at all] mean you should not associate with those of this world who sin sexually, or with the greedy, or ·robbers [or swindlers], or those who worship idols. To get away from them you would have to leave this world.

I am writing to tell you that you must not associate with those who call themselves ·believers in Christ [a brother or sister] but who sin sexually, or are greedy, or worship idols, or ·abuse others with words [slander], or get drunk, or ·cheat [swindle] people. Do not even eat with people like that.

·Surely [Don’t…?] you know that the ·people who do wrong [unrighteous; wicked; unjust] will not inherit God’s kingdom. Do not be ·fooled [deceived]. Those who sin sexually, worship idols, take part in adultery, those who are ·male prostitutes [or passive homosexual partners], or ·men who have sexual relations with other men [or active homosexual partners], those who steal, are greedy, get drunk, ·lie about others [slander others; use abusive language], or ·rob [swindle]—these people will not inherit God’s kingdom.

They have lost ·all feeling of shame [or any sense of right and wrong; all feeling/sensitivity], and they ·use their lives for doing evil [abandon themselves to indecency/depravity]. They ·continually want to do [or greedily pursue] all kinds of ·evil [impurity].

But there must be ·no [no hint/mention/rumor of] sexual sin among you, or any kind of ·evil [impurity] or greed. Those things are not ·right [proper; fitting] for God’s holy people.

[For] You can be sure of this: No one will have a ·place [inheritance] in the kingdom of Christ and of God who sins sexually, or does ·evil [impure] things, or is greedy. Anyone who is greedy is ·serving a false god [an idolater].

So put all ·evil [earthly; worldly] things ·out of your life [to death]: sexual sinning, ·doing evil [impurity; defilement], ·letting evil thoughts control you [lust; passion], ·wanting things that are evil [selfish desires], and greed, which is ·serving a false god [idolatry].

You know that we never ·tried to influence you by saying nice things about you [came with words of flattery]. ·We were not trying to get your money; we had no selfishness to hide from you […nor with hidden motives of greed]. God ·knows that this is true [is (our) witness].

He must not drink too much wine or ·like to fight [be violent/a troublemaker], but rather be gentle and ·peaceable [not quarrelsome/contentious], not ·loving money [avaricious; greedy].

[ Deacons in the Church ] In the same way, deacons must be ·respected by others [dignified], not ·saying things they do not mean [insincere; two-faced; deceitful]. They must not drink too much wine or ·try to get rich by cheating others [be greedy for money/profit].

As God’s ·managers [stewards], overseers [probably the same church office as elder; 1 Tim. 3:1, 6, 7; 5:17]must be ·innocent of wrongdoing [blameless], ·unselfish[not arrogant/self-willed], not ·quick-tempered [easily angered]. They must not ·drink too much wine [be a drunkard], ·like to fight [be violent/a brawler], or ·try to get rich by cheating others [be greedy for gain/dishonest in business].

Shepherd [tend] God’s flock [John 21:15–19], ·for whom you are responsible [which is under your care]. ·Watch over [Oversee] them because you want to, not because you are forced. That is how God wants it. Do it because you are ·happy [eager] to serve, not because ·you want money [of greed].

Every time they look at a woman they want her [They have eyes full of adultery], and ·their desire for sin is never satisfied [or they never stop sinning]. They ·lead weak people into the trap of sin [ensnare/entice/lure unstable people/souls], and they have ·taught[exercised; trained] their hearts to be greedy. ·God will punish them [Accursed children; under God’s curse]!

·It will be terrible for them [Woe to them!]. They have followed the way of Cain [who murdered his brother Abel; Gen. 4], and ·for money [because of greed; for wages] they have ·given themselves [poured themselves out] to doing the ·wrong [error] that Balaam did [Num. 22—24; 2 Pet. 2:15–16]. ·They have rebelled against God as Korah did, and like Korah, they surely will be destroyed [In the rebellion of Korah, they were destroyed; Num. 16].

Katy Perry’s “Chained to the Rhythm” Sells an Elite-Friendly “Revolution”

“Chained to the Rhythm” is your typical Katy Perry pop song but with a slight subversive twist. However, there is intense “double think” going on here. Indeed, the “rebellion” presented by the video is actually accepting the global elite’s agenda that has been pushed for years.

After Trump’s election, Katy Perry declared that it was time for “purposeful pop”. Did she have an epiphany? Not really. What actually happened is that Capitol Records, the conglomerate that owns her rights, retooled her image and message to fit the current agenda.

Indeed, for years, Perry’s appeal to teens and pre-teens has been exploited to push all kinds of agendas. And this hasn’t changed. The context, however, has changed.

The 2014 video “Dark Horse” was a gigantic tribute to the occult elite and its Illuminati symbolism. Read my article about it here.

In 2017, Katy Perry’s services are once again needed. And, when Katy Perry releases a “political” song, you better believe that the message has been carefully crafted to serve the interests of those who own her.Chained to the Rhythm is exactly that: A calculated “political” message the elite’s globalist agenda as a “rebellion” to the American nightmare that is Trump.

Before I go further, I feel the need to point out that this article is not pro or anti-Trump. It is an objective analysis of a mass media product that was released during a specific political era. As I’ve often stated, the same occult elite is still behind the scenes, no matter who’s in power and still fully controls the channels of mainstream media. So, please realize that, unlike 99% of blogs and news sites out there, I don’t care about political affiliations and my values are not shaped according to a pre-made “liberal” or “conservative” box. I’m simply analyzing the agenda behind mass media. Alright, back to the article.

In Chained to the Rhythm, the United States is compared to a theme park named “Oblivia”, where “oblivious” people walk around with static creepy smiles on their faces. The rides in the park represent real life social issues that American people are apparently ignoring because they’re “living in a bubble”. This is coming from Katy Perry who was also in this video:

California Gurls.

Chained to the Elite

The video takes place in a theme park named Oblivia. The logo is a hamster, a rodent who is known to live in a cage and exercise on spinning wheel that leads to nowhere. This is how the elite perceives the masses.

In the park, people are too absorbed with their social media statuses to understand what is truly going on around them.

The park is filled with self-centered people who take selfies with their hamster devices.

Katy Perry is right. People who take selfies are self-absorbed jerks. BUT WAIT A MINUTE.

Aaaargh!

ANYWAYS, people in the park are, pretty much, brainwashed drones who do as they are told.

Guests follow arrows the same way the masses follow the arrows of mass media towards whatever they are supposed to think and believe.
The waiting time for this ride is 1984 hours. Get it? As in Orwell’s 1984? Which was about Big Brother?

Wow, Katy Perry’s got some edgy, “wake up to the truth” commentary going on. It’s like she’s on our side now! A truther! Well, not really. What is basically happening is that the entire “truther” viewpoint is being co-opted by mass media to sell the elite’s agenda.

In Oblivia, Katy visits several rides that allude to issues happening in America and the world. While they appear fun, they are actually harming those who ride them.

One ride, named “The Great American Dream Drop”, has a grave underlying meaning.
Happy little couples go inside happy little houses and are lifted in the air.

Once in the air,  the houses suddenly drop back down. Is this a reference to banks taking families for a “ride” by lending them money to buy homes using shoddy loans? This scam led to the massive housing crash of 2008 which caused trillions of dollars to be sucked from average American towards the financial elite.

When Katy Perry performed Chained to the Rythm at the Brit Awards and the Grammys, the set symbolically referred to the killing of the American dream.

At the Grammy Awards, a typical, white-picket fence home was literally on fire. Is Perry predicting a period of major turmoil for the masses?
At the Brit Awards, homes got off the ground and started moving around while under the spell of giant skeletons (who probably represented Donald Trump and Theresa May).

Perry’s lyrics take aim at regular people living in their regular homes, telling them they are too “comfortable”.

Are we crazy?
Living our lives through a lens
Trapped in our white-picket fence
Like ornaments
So comfortable, we live in a bubble, a bubble
So comfortable, we cannot see the trouble, the trouble

Katy is right, we should follow her lead and not live in a “comfortable bubble” and live a constantly revolutionary lifestyle. BUT WAIT A MINUTE.

Katy recently bought an ENTIRE CONVENT to live in.

ANYWAYS, other rides in the video allude to other social issues.

The roller-coaster ride features a “validation station” named Love Me.

As people take place in the ride, we realize that men sit on one side and women on the other. Why is there a separation? Is this a reference to sexism in society? When Simon and Rose go through the “Validation Station” (a commentary on how people crave social media “likes” to feel validated), Simon gets nearly all of the votes. This seems to tell us that men have an unfair advantage over women, especially when it comes to social media.

BUT WAIT A MINUTE.

ANYWAYS, the next ride directly takes aim at a specific Trump policy.

The ride “No Place Like Home” is a commentary on Trump’s policy of deporting illegal immigrants. Did this couple enter Oblivia illegally?
The couple is then ejected far away, above a fence – a reference to Trump’s proposed wall.

Other rides allude to issues that were part of American history, no matter who’s in power.

The ride “Bombs Away!” consists of missiles flying around.

The ride alludes to the American people being oblivious to the various wars being carried out by their government around the world. Katy is right. War is bad and we should protest against it. BUT WAIT A MINUTE.

In the 2012 video “Part of Me”, Katy enlists in the army and goes to war. Why? Because her boyfriend cheated on her. Makes sense.

Part of Me was released five years ago. Perry was used as a recruiting tool by the army in order to reach young people. Joining the army was presented as a solution to a bad relationship (read my article about it here). But this is now.

This guy is happily walking around with a mushroom cloud in his hands. He’s oblivious to the nuclear threat around the world.

The attraction named “Inferno H20” is rather perplexing.

It is basically a gas station that dispenses “Fire Water”.

In this attraction, Katy is given a glass of water that catches fire. Does it refer to the looming water crisis that is on the verge of causing conflicts around the world? Does it maybe refer to the environmental disasters caused by the exploitation and transportation of petroleum? The message there is rather vague, not unlike other scenes in the video.

In the evening, guests are shown a movie on a TV screen, the same way Americans spend their evenings watching TV.

The film is called “A Nuclear Family”.
The masses (including the douche behind Katy) put on their 3D glasses and enthusiastically absorb the propaganda.

If we follow the logic of this video, people are being “brainwashed” by watching a movie about a “nuclear family” which is defined as:

a social unit composed of two parents and one or more children.”

Why is this portrayed as bad? Yes, in today’s society, there are all kinds of family structures and they are all as valid and important as any others and bla bla bla. That being said, why isn’t the “nuclear family” as celebrated as other kinds of families? Why is the video portraying this family as something to rebel against? Is it because, maybe, the elite has been hard at work in destroying traditional family values in order to debase the masses and make them more malleable? Don’t get me started.

Then, Skip Marley comes out of the screen as if he was that girl from The Ring.

Move over lame nuclear family, Skip is coming through!

Skip sings about rioting against those in power.

“It is my desire
Break down the walls to connect, inspire
Ay, up in your high place, liars
Time is ticking for the empire
The truth they feed is feeble
As so many times before
They greed over the people
They stumbling and fumbling and we’re about to riot
They woke up, they woke up the lions”

Then, Katy Perry has an awakening.

There is something ironic about this scene. Skip literally emerges out of the TV screen that is used to brainwash people. In other words, he IS mass media. Compliance to the agenda is disguised as rebellion. That is some next-level double-think.

After her awakening, Perry looks around while the oblivious masses run circles around her. She is so WOKE now. Wow. She knows so many truths now.
The video ends with Perry looking at the viewer with a concerned look as if saying “YOU SHOULD HAVE VOTED FOR HILLARY”.

In Conclusion

Chained to the Rhythm is what I call “propaganda 2.0”: The elite’s agenda presented as a “revolution”. It takes tropes from “truther” films such as They Live – where only a select few see the truth while the rest of the world is being controlled – to actually sell a political agenda.

As stated in numerous times on this site, the ultimate goal of the elite is to create a one-world government, complete with a single currency and a single elite ruling it. By creating specific “issues” and emphasizing solutions fixing these issues, the global elite has been hard at work creating a fully integrated world system where social and economic policies transcend national borders to be decided on a global level. The refugee crisis, the environment, the economy, terrorism and countless other issues are being used to introduce New-World-Oder-friendly policies on a global level. This program has been championed for years by George Soros and his extremely powerful organization named Open Society.

This is what Chained to the Rhythm is truly about. Katy Perry has been, for years, a pawn of the elite, and this is still going on now. Does that automatically mean that we should all fully support everything Trump does? Of course not. The entire message of this site is to be constantly vigilant. Believe it or not, you don’t need to fully adhere to a political party’s entire platform. You can actually be a rational person and decide for yourself which policies you agree and disagree with. If Trump goes ahead and promotes increased privacy violations, increased police-state tactics and increased racial tensions, you better believe that I won’t be supporting any of this.

One thing is for sure, no matter who’s in power, mass media is still in the hands of an elite with a specific agenda. And, even when it appears to be promoting freedom, it secretly wants you to be … chained to the rhythm.

Because my only purpose in this life has become living on faith, watching signs of the times, and delivering a message few believe that none really want to hear, life for my wife and I through these past 10 years has been very difficult; therefore any help at all would be greatly appreciated — because we could at least buy food.

Warning With Instruction For Christianity “COME OUT OF HER MY PEOPLE”

revelation-001

Revelation 18:4, Chapters 2 & 3

The book of Revelation communicates a strong message of warning to the Church of Yahusha the Messiah.  It tells of the present condition and the future destiny of the people who fill the pews every Sunday morning and call themselves by the name of “Jesus.”  It speaks of what is wrong with the Christian Church of the last days, and pleads with her to repent of her sins and lawless ways.  It graphically portrays the Christian Church as an Harlot at the time just prior to his return!  And it begs the members of that congregation to “come out of her, my people.”

The time for any willing to shake loose from bias through viewing the big picture on how Yehovah views congregations has arrived; therefore know that only our creator can open the eyes of those He chooses according to truth of scripture never taught – whereas all others will be hardened just as written in Romans 9:15-18, or remain with natural minds without spiritual knowledge. 1 Corinthians 2:14

Know also that those which have become totally disassociated with this world of religion and human ways — have been called out of this world in John 15:19 to walk their commanded walk as instructed in Colossians 3, and not the way this world of Christianity walks. Want better understanding of John 15:18-21?

https://dochub.com/timesoftrouble/LR4Qwb/how_christians_lacking_spiritual_knowledge_hate_god

As a very true and genuine believer, I am ready to suffer through affliction as written in Matthew 24 and Revelation 6 — are you? Did knot Yeshua suffer? are we not to follow His steps?

Concerning Torah keepers and those who worship Yehovah — how sure of not being amongst those in Isaiah 59 are you? What have you ever really done for others even if it means a little self sacrifice? Do you really love others as yourself? Through this past decade, I have seen but few, and even those were as a one time help with nothing more. Read Luke 6:38 while knowing what you can expect during famine, or Psalms 33:18-21 with or without Yehovah’s mercy going back to Romans 9:18 KJV.

The book of Revelation has been badly misinterpreted and poorly misunderstood by most Christians.  Our fathers have inherited lies.  These lies have been passed down from generation to generation resulting in a set of core beliefs which bear no resemblance to what the Scriptures actually teach.  We have been taught that Revelation speaks of what is going to happen in the future after the church has been snatched up into heaven in an alleged pre tribulation rapture.  We have been told that the sorrowful events of the Revelation will not affect the church of Jesus Christ.  They tell us that all those things will happen to unbelievers in the future after the true believers are gone.  But none of that is true.

The book of Revelation has been given to the “messengers of the congregation” as a warning and a plea to examine herself and to repent so as not to be recipients of the final wrath of Elohim.  In chapters two and three, Yeshua the Messiah sends rebukes and warnings to his people because they are not fully obeying his word.  From there till almost the end of the book, Elohim sends difficulties, calamities and disasters to the inhabitants of planet Earth to provoke his people and the rest of earth’s inhabitants to repentance.  Then toward the end of Revelation, just before the final wrath of Yahuwah falls, Yahusha portrays the institutional church as an harlot riding the Beast, unwilling to repent of her harlotries.  And he begs the true believers to “come out of her, my people.”  And those who refuse to leave Babylon’s practices are judged!

Proper names of the Father and Son not used in this article can be found in links below for any being few seeking spiritual understanding on world deception.

What are the sins of the Christian churches which Yahuwah is begging her to repent of?  The church isn’t really that bad, is it?  What is it that the Christian churches believe and practice that has gotten Elohim so angry with her that he refers to her as an harlot?

Harlotry in the Scriptures

To understand what harlotry represents in the book of Revelation requires a bit of background study in the Tanak (Old Testament).  Before we can properly understand the harlot of Revelation 17, 18 and her acts of harlotry, we must find out from the Torah and the Prophets precisely who might be fitting of such a notorious appellation.

The term “harlot” in its various forms occurs over 100 times in the New American Standard Bible.  As we would expect, quite a few of those times, it refers to the act of marital infidelity.  Rahab of Jericho is referred to as an harlot, presumably because of her immoral lifestyle as seen in her chosen profession (Joshua 2).  Judah’s daughter-in-law Tamar played the harlot by tricking him into sleeping with her so that she could raise up seed for her deceased husband (Genesis 38).  There are additionally references to both male and female temple prostitutes, exhortations (in Proverbs) to flee from the immorality of hooking up with a prostitute, and statements in the Torah of judgments against marital unfaithfulness.

The core meaning of harlotry and prostitution is that of being committed in a relationship and in a vow with one individual and breaking that vow by becoming physically attached to another individual.  The marital commitment is not to be made lightly.  It is expected to last a lifetime.  Thus, when a person betrays that commitment by sleeping with another, he has broken the vow and endangered (perhaps put to death) the relationship with his\her spouse.

Accordingly, the term harlotry came to be used of the broken relationship between Yahuwah and his people as a result of their sinful ways.  In fact, “harlot” and “harlotry” are used more frequently in this sense in the Scriptures.  In the first instance of our word used in that context, Moses scolds the Israelites:

for you shall not worship any other god, for Yahuwah, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous Elohim — otherwise you might make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land and they would play the harlot with their gods and sacrifice to their gods, and someone might invite you to eat of his sacrifice (Exodus 34:14,15, NAS)

‘Playing the harlot with their gods’ is a expression which suggests that Israel might walk away from worshiping Yah in the way he desires, and go worship the way the unbelievers do.  This would constitute ‘harlotry” in Yahuwah’s sight.

By turning to any other god, Yah’s people are committing spiritual adultery.  So, as in the text to follow, offering a child to Molech, the god of fire, is harlotry:

‘If the people of the land, however, should ever disregard that man when he gives any of his offspring to Molech, so as not to put him to death, then I Myself will set My face against that man and against his family, and I will cut off from among their people both him and all those who play the harlot after him, by playing the harlot after Molech. (Leviticus 20:4,5)

Likewise, to listen to and heed spiritists, card and palm readers and the like, is unfaithfulness to the Elohim of heaven:

As for the person who turns to mediums and to spiritists, to play the harlot after them, I will also set My face against that person and will cut him off from among his people. (Leviticus 20:6 NAS)

The prophets used a lot of ink to rebuke unfaithful Yisrael and Yehuda regarding their turning to and worshiping other gods.  Isaiah speaks of the sins of the people of Jerusalem and declares:

How the faithful city has become a harlot, She who was full of justice! Righteousness once lodged in her, But now murderers. (Yeshayahu 1:21 NAS)

Jeremiah speaks in the same vein:

Then Yahuwah said to me in the days of Josiah the king, “Have you seen what faithless Israel did? She went up on every high hill and under every green tree, and she was a harlot there.  “I thought, ‘After she has done all these things she will return to Me’; but she did not return, and her treacherous sister Judah saw it.  “And I saw that for all the adulteries of faithless Israel, I had sent her away and given her a writ of divorce, yet her treacherous sister Judah did not fear; but she went and was a harlot also. (Yirmyahu 3:6-8 NAS)

And Ezekiel uses this metaphor in several rebukes, in chapters 6, 16, 20, 23.  For example,

These things will be done to you because you have played the harlot with the nations, because you have defiled yourself with their idols. (Yechezqel 23:30 NAS)

And finally, Hosea gets in on the act:

They will eat, but not have enough; They will play the harlot, but not increase, Because they have stopped giving heed to Yahuwah.  Harlotry, wine and new wine take away the understanding.  My people consult their wooden idol, and their diviner’s wand informs them; For a spirit of harlotry has led them astray, And they have played the harlotdeparting from their Elohim. (Hoshea 4:10-12 NAS)

The picture portrayed of Elohim’s covenant nation of ancient times is clearly that of a stubborn, backsliding people who want to worship Elohim in their own way.  They prefer to worship Elohim in the manner which He finds to be offensive and reprehensible.  He is a jealous Elohim.  He described in detail the manner in which his people are to worship Him.  But his people wanted to worship Him by using the same customs and practices which their pagan neighbors used to worship their idol gods.  Thus, he regarded them as unfaithful to His ways and labeled them an harlot.

The Harlot of Revelation

So when we look at the metaphor of the harlot in the book of Revelation, we have a long standing history of Elohim’s people as a reference to guide us in our understanding.  It makes perfect sense that the sense of the term “harlot” as used by the New Covenant prophets would be at least similar and likely identical to the sense in which the Old Covenant prophets used that term.  The harlot of Revelation can be nothing else but the people living in the last days who claim to be Elohim’s people through the New Covenant, who, like their counterpart of old, want to be called by Elohim’s name (worshippers of “Jesus”) but who want to worship Him in their own way, like their unbelieving neighbors who worship false gods.  Thus, the Harlot is the Christian Church, worshipping “God” and practicing their faith in their own way, and not the way that Elohim has revealed in His word as the only proper and acceptable way to worship Him.

The harlot of the book of Revelation is described as sitting on a beast:

One of the seven angels who had the seven bowls came and said to me, “Come, I will show you the punishment of the great prostitute, who sits on many waters. With her the kings of the earth committed adultery and the inhabitants of the earth were intoxicated with the wine of her adulteries.” Then the angel carried me away in the Spirit into a desert. There I saw a woman sitting on a scarlet beast that was covered with blasphemous names and had seven heads and ten horns. The woman was dressed in purple and scarlet, and was glittering with gold, precious stones and pearls. She held a golden cup in her hand, filled with abominable things and the filth of her adulteries. This title was written on her forehead: MYSTERY BABYLON THE GREAT THE MOTHER OF PROSTITUTES AND OF THE ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH. I saw that the woman was drunk with the blood of the saints, the blood of those who bore testimony to Yahusha. When I saw her, I was greatly astonished. (Revelation 17:1-6, NIV)

In this passage, the Beast is described as having seven heads and ten horns.  The identical details about the Beast are given in Revelation 13, where the additional details depict a politico-religious system of the last days which will control world economy and stand opposed to Elohim:

He had ten horns and seven heads, with ten crowns on his horns, and on each head a blasphemous name. The beast I saw resembled a leopard, but had feet like those of a bear and a mouth like that of a lion. The dragon gave the beast his power and his throne and great authority…Men worshiped the dragon because he had given authority to the beast, and they also worshiped the beast… (verses 1,2,4).

There are several striking similarities between this beast from the sea and the fourth beast in Daniel’s vision (chapter 7).  Both have ten horns.  The ten horns of both represent ten kings.  Both are set in the context of the conflict in the last days.  Both persecute the saints of Elohim.  And both will ultimately be overthrown when Elohim sets up his everlasting kingdom.

At one time the harlot is described in the same terms as the Beast and then at another time there seems to be a clear distinction between the two.  This confusion over identifying the Beast and the Harlot who rides the Beast may best be reconciled as follows:  The city of Rome is the Beast.  And the Church which has its headquarters in Rome is the harlot which rides the Beast (resides in Rome).

Confirmation of this identification of the Beast as being the city of Rome can be seen in history.  First, at the time of the writing of Revelation, Rome was the great persecutor of the Christian Church, and thus fulfills Revelation 18:24: “And in her was found the blood of prophets and of saints and of all who have been slain on the earth.”  And up through till after the time of the Reformers, Rome has been the city where all who find faith in the Scriptures rather than in the Roman Church have been persecuted and killed.

For many centuries, Bible interpreters have been saying that the beast of Daniel 7, Revelation 13 and Revelation 17 springs up from Rome.  This interpretation is still held by many expositors in our own day because of the enormous weight of evidence pointing to the city of Rome. First, we might consider that the seven heads of the beast “are seven hills on which the woman sits” (Revelation 17:9).  From ancient times, Rome has been customarily referred to as ‘the city of seven hills.’

The method of historical interpretation, which views the prophesies of Revelation as being fulfilled historically during the church age, sees the prophecy of the ten horns of the beast, which represent ten kings, fulfilled in the 5th century C.E.  At that time the Roman Empire split up into ten distinct tribes, which roughly correspond to present day Europe. This interpretation was one of the main tenants of the Great Reformation, which saw in the Church that resides in Rome a complete fulfillment of those biblical prophecies. William Kimball points out that “the twofold truth that ‘the just shall live by faith’ and the claim that the Roman Church characterized the antichrist system represented the battle cry of the Reformation.” (Kimball, pp.30,31)  So the Beast refers to the City of Rome, or the institutions which were headquartered in Rome.

Babylon and the Harlot Identified

The Harlot, on the other hand, refers to the people who call themselves by “God”s name who are in Rome.  The Harlot is seen as riding the Beast because the Christian Church in Rome has always used governmental authority to enforce her edicts.  The Book of Revelation even identifies the harlot by the title that is written on her forehead:

This title was written on her forehead: MYSTERY BABYLON THE GREAT THE MOTHER OF PROSTITUTES AND OF THE ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH (Revelation 17:5)

Recall that the name of the Father (Yahuwah) and the name of the Lamb (Yahusha) are written on the foreheads of those who belong to Elohim (Revelation 14:1).  But there is a different name written upon the followers of the Beast.  The harlot woman who rides the Beast, comprised of those people who worship the Beast, is identified as those who have the same characteristics as those of ancient Babylon.  We need to merely identify the worship practices of the ancient Babylonians, and we will know the worship style of those who comprise the Beast system, and will thereby confirm the identity of the Harlot!

The Babylonian mother-child cult religious system is well known in history.  The false worship it fosters is summarized in three specific worship practices.  It featured worship on the first day of the week in honor of the “invincible sun.”  It promotes worship of “god” on the birthday of the cult-son at the winter solstice at or around December 25.  And it demands worship of “god” at the spring equinox sunrise service to honor the resurrection (rebirth) of Ishtar (hence, “Easter”).  In contrast to their worship practices, the Scriptures make it clear that Elohim is to be worshipped in truth by keeping His Sabbath day, and by observing the festival Holy Days of Passover and Tabernacles.  But the Babylonian worshippers want to worship him on Sunday instead of on the Sabbath day which He sanctified, on Easter instead of on Passover which is when Yahusha told his disciples to remember him, and on Christmas instead of on Tabernacles which is when Yahusha was really born!

What group practices these same three worship customs?  Why, of course, it’s the Christian Church!

Note that the name written of the harlot’s forehead is “Mother of Harlots.”  The Church at Rome is the Harlot.  And the fact that she is the Mother of Harlots corresponds to the fact that the rest of the Christian Churches of the world are her daughters.  The Protestant Christian denominations of the world are rightly called her daughters because, although they claim to be in “protest” of her doctrines, they still follow in the mother church’s footsteps when it comes to customs, traditions and practices.  The mother church practices the pagan customs, traditions and holidays of the pagan Babylonian sun-god worshippers, and the daughter churches – the Protestant churches – do the same.  They are her offspring because they practice the same traditions that she does.  They put into practice all the abominable practices of her mother – the Roman Catholic Church – when they celebrate “the Son” on Sunday, Christmas and Easter, which they erroneously believe honors Elohim.  But he hates those things.

And Elohim will judge that institution.  In one day, the mother church will be destroyed:

After these things I saw another angel coming down from heaven, having great authority, and the earth was illumined with his glory. And he cried out with a mighty voice, saying, “Fallen, fallen is Babylon the great! She has become a dwelling place of demons and a prison of every unclean spirit, and a prison of every unclean and hateful bird.  “For all the nations have drunk of the wine of the passion of her immorality, and the kings of the earth have committed immorality with her, and the merchants of the earth have become rich by the wealth of her sensuality.”  I heard another voice from heaven, saying, “Come out of her, my people, so that you will not participate in her sins and receive of her plagues.  (Revelation 18:1-4 DMR)

To correctly identify who is being referred to as Babylon here, and to whom Yahuwah is calling to “come out of her, my people,” we must summarize the following:  To whom is Elohim speaking when he says “come out of her, my people”? (answer: those who profess faith in Christ)  Whom is Elohim rebuking in Revelation 2 and 3? (answer: those who profess faith in Christ)  Who has rejected the Torah of Elohim and has thus earned the designation “harlot”?  (answer: those who profess faith in Christ)  Who sits on 7 hills? (answer: Roman Christianity)  Whose customs, traditions and practices have originated in Babylon of old? (answer: The Roman Church and all those who profess faith in Christ)  Who has refused to worship Yahuwah in the manner which he has revealed in his word?  (answer: those who profess faith in Christ)

Those who profess faith in the Messiah are the people whom Elohim calls “my people.”  This would include Catholics and Protestants, Evangelicals and Fundamentalists, Lutherans, Baptists, Methodists, Presbyterians, Pentecostals, Assemblies of God, Adventists, Church of God, and any other group or assembly that claims Jesus as their Lord.  It is to the whole Christian world that Yahuwah is calling to come out of the pagan religious system and practices which he so strongly abhors.

The Christian church is the group whom Elohim is rebuking in Revelation 2 and 3.  They are the people whom Elohim is warning that his judgment is about to fall.  They are the ones who have lost their first love.  They have followed after the way of Balaam in their acts of sexual immorality, which runs prevalent in many churches today.  They are the ones who are dead though they think they are alive, and lukewarm though Elohim would rather have them hot or cold.

The Breaking of the Torah in Revelation

The Christian Church is the people who have rejected Elohim’s instructions to them – the Torah or “Law” – and have thus earned the designation “harlot.”  Even though the Book of Revelation portrays her that way, the Babylonian/Christian theologians have somehow missed this tiny little detail in their expositions of Revelation.  The mother church, the Roman Catholic Church, has rejected Elohim’s authority and has established her own authority to change Elohim’s laws and write her own law.  Likewise, the Protestant churches have similarly rejected the instructions Elohim gave in the Torah, and have popularized their belief in the “setting aside” or “nullifying” of Elohim’s laws by convincing their members that Jesus nailed God’s Law to the tree.  But nothing could be further from the truth.

The fact that Elohim’s laws and commandments are still relevant (i.e. have not been nailed to the tree) is most emphatically illustrated in Revelation by the way Elohim’s faithful ones are described.  They are not identified by some label, such as “Christians” or “Church members.”  On the contrary, Yahuwah chooses to identify his people by their actions.  They are recognized by the one in whom they trust and by their obedience to his commandments:

Then the dragon was enraged at the woman and went off to make war against the rest of her offspring– those who obey Elohim’s commandments and hold to the testimony of Yahusha. (12:17, NIV corrected)

This calls for patient endurance on the part of the saints who obey Elohim’s commandments and remain faithful to Yahusha. (14:12, NIV corrected)

If keeping Elohim’s commandments is not important, then why are His people in the last days distinguished from the unbelievers by their act of obedience to His commandments?  Clearly, obedience to his Law and Commands is a vital life sign of the true believer.  And disobedience to his commands indicates a lack of faith and trust and relationship with the Almighty.

Let’s take a look at the Ten Commandments and what the book of Revelation has to say about the breaking of them.  Then we can come to some conclusion about the veracity of  the Christian church’s belief that the Laws of Elohim have been nailed to the tree.  Here then are the Ten Commandments, which are a summary of all of Yahuwah’s instructions to his people.  The New American Standard version of Exodus 20:2-17, with the sacred name restored, is cited:

Commandment 1: I am Yahuwah your Elohim, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery.  You shall have no other gods before Me.

Commandment 2:  You shall not make for yourself an idol, or any likeness of what is in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the water under the earth.  You shall not worship them or serve them; for I, Yahuwah your Elohim, am a jealous Elohim, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children, on the third and the fourth generations of those who hate Me, but showing lovingkindness to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments.

Commandment 3:  You shall not take the name of Yahuwah your Elohim in vain, for Yahuwah will not leave him unpunished who takes His name in vain.

Commandment 4:  Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.  Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is a sabbath of Yahuwah your Elohim; in it you shall not do any work, you or your son or your daughter, your male or your female servant or your cattle or your sojourner who stays with you.  For in six days Yahuwah made the heavens and the earth, the sea and all that is in them, and rested on the seventh day; therefore Yahuwah blessed the sabbath day and made it holy.

Commandment 5:  Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be prolonged in the land which Yahuwah your Elohim gives you.

Commandment 6:  You shall not murder.

Commandment 7:  You shall not commit adultery.

Commandment 8:  You shall not steal.

Commandment 9:  You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.

Commandment 10:  You shall not covet your neighbor’s house; you shall not covet your neighbor’s wife or his male servant or his female servant or his ox or his donkey or anything that belongs to your neighbor.”

Perhaps the first thing that stands out about the Ten Commandments (with the sacred name restored) is how many times Elohim has placed his personal, sacred name into these commandments.  By my count, in the first five commandments, Elohim is called by his personal sacred name no less than 8 (eight) times!  Why does Elohim have his personal name stamped all over the Ten Commandments?  Could it be to drive home the point that they are not Moses’ commandments?  Nor are they Israel’s commandments.  They are, in fact, Elohim’s own commandments.  They are personal to Him; thus, He places His own personal name on them.  They express Elohim’s will for His people.  And the numerous mentions of Yah’s sacred name in the commandments also implies that, just as Yahuwah is unchanging, so His word and His will for His people are likewise unchanging.

Secondly, let’s also keep in mind the structure of the Ten Commandments.  The greatest commandment of all, according to Yahusha of Nazareth, is to love Yahuwah your Elohim with all your heart, with all your soul and with all your strength.  And the second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourselfNote again that the first four commandments correspond to the great commandment to love Yahuwah.  And the final six commands correspond to the command to love your neighbor as yourself.

What I have found, and experienced through these past ten years while living with many hardships, it that today’s world of Christianity not only know not love towards who their lips claim to love – but are extremely selfish with greed prior to actually loving others with compassion.

Let’s examine the breaking of the Ten Commandments in Revelation.  In the section that follows, we will look at how the first four commandments, which govern our worship and respect for Elohim, are portrayed as being broken in the book of Revelation.  But first, let’s consider how Revelation describes the breaking of the final six commands, which correspond to how we treat one another.

It is important to note that not all of the final six commandments are explicitly expressed among the sins of earth’s inhabitants in Revelation.  There is a much greater emphasis on the breaking of the first four commandments, because the lines have been drawn and earth dwellers are being brought to decide who they will worship.  Thus, the barometer for measuring and determining who is worshipping Yahuwah is the keeping of the first four commandments.  Nevertheless, Revelation portrays most people as breaking the commandments which govern how to love one another.

To the congregation of  Pergamum, Yahuwah says,

But I have a few things against you, because you have there some who hold the teaching of Balaam, who kept teaching Balak to put a stumbling block before the sons of Israel, to eat things sacrificed to idols and to commit acts of immorality. (2:14)

Here, Elohim’s people are involved in acts of idolatry and adultery, the breaking of the second and seventh commandments.  No doubt that today’s churches are full of people who marry, divorce and remarry again – as if this were acceptable with Yahuwah.  No.  Yahuwah hates divorce! (see Malachi 2:16, NAS  “For I hate divorce,” says Yahuwah, the Elohim of Israel, “and him who covers his garment with wrong,” says Yahuwah of hosts.)  But the people who fill our church pews every Sunday don’t seem to mind it so much!

The breaking of the second, sixth, seventh, eighth and ninth commandments are described as follows:

The rest of mankind, who were not killed by these plagues, did not repent of the works of their hands, so as not to worship demons, and the idols of gold and of silver and of brass and of stone and of wood, which can neither see nor hear nor walk; and they did not repent of their murders nor of their sorceries nor of their immorality nor of their thefts. (9:20,21)

But for the cowardly and unbelieving and abominable and murderers [1John 3:15] and immoral persons and sorcerers and idolaters and all liars, their part will be in the lake that burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.” (21:8)

and nothing unclean, and no one who practices abomination and lying, shall ever come into it, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s book of life. (21:27)

Outside are the dogs and the sorcerers and the immoral persons and the murderers and the idolaters, and everyone who loves and practices lying. (22:15) [1John 4:19-21]

Liars, idolaters, immoral persons, murderers and thieves are all rebuked and then condemned for their acts which break these commandments of Elohim.  But how could Elohim judge the people by these standards if the Ten Commandments are no longer valid?  Have the commandments been nailed to the tree?  If so, then Elohim surely would not impugn his people for breaking them, would he?  But we see over and over in Revelation how Elohim is angry with the inhabitants of the earth, including his own people, because they continue to rebel against him and break these commandments.

However, the people whom Elohim praises in Revelation are those who keep His Commandments!

These are the ones who have not been defiled with women, for they have kept themselves chaste. These are the ones who follow the Lamb wherever He goes. (14:4)

And no lie was found in their mouth; they are blameless. (14:5)

And I saw the dead, the great and the small, standing before the throne, and books were opened; and another book was opened, which is the book of life; and the dead were judged from the things which were written in the books, according to their deeds. (20:12)

and nothing unclean, and no one who practices abomination and lying, shall ever come into it, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s book of life. (21:27)

If we take these verses at face value, we come to the conclusion that Elohim places much value on the obedience to his Ten Commandments.  Those who obey them find eternal life.  Those who refuse to repent of their habit of breaking them find judgment and condemnation.

Worship of Elohim in Revelation

Next, let’s consider what the book of Revelation says about the breaking of the first Four Commandments in the last days.  These four commandments are a summary of the laws regulating fellowship with and worship of our Maker.  How we respond to these four commandments is a window into our relationship with Yahuwah because these Four Commandments define and clarify what worship of Him in truth is.  One of the significant threads of the Revelation is that of choosing whom you will worship.  Will you remain loyal to Yahuwah, the maker of heaven and earth?  Or will you worship the Beast and the false prophet?  Your choice about what you do with the first Four Commandments of Elohim are a primary indicator of whom you choose to worship.  These four commands are like a barometer measuring our allegiance to the Creator of heaven and earth.

The theme of Yah’s call to worship Him according to the regulations as revealed in the first four of the Ten Commandments is a major theme of Revelation.  But, unfortunately, most commentators have completed missed this point.  The reason that most Christian theologians and Bible teachers and preachers have missed this point is because they don’t really believe that the first Four Commandments are relevant today.  They would be the first to admit that the last Six Commandments are applicable in the Christian Church, but they tend to explain away the applicability of a literal obedience to the first Four.  As such, they don’t practice obedience to these four fundamental commands which regulate spiritual worship.  Neither do they teach obedience to the first Four Commandments as truth for today.

But Yahuwah Elohim regards the keeping of the first four commandments as essential to proper worship of Him.  The breaking of any one of these four commandments by his people constitutes apostasy and rebellion.  Shockingly, the Christian Church of the 21st century is routinely breaking all four of the commandments regulating true worship of the Creator.  It is by their own choice that they blatantly and stubbornly resist Elohim’s will for them in worship by refusing to comply with His wishes to be worshipped in the way that the first four commandments describe.

The First Commandment

Commandment 1: I am Yahuwah your Elohim, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery.  You shall have no other gods before Me.

The first commandment which describes worship of Elohim in truth stipulates that He is to have first place in our lives.  Yahuwah is a jealous Elohim.  He wants us to worship Him as supreme.  And as such, worship of Him must be done the way He dictates, not the way in which we choose to worship Him.  Furthermore, giving Elohim first place includes the setting aside of all other gods.

Yahusha sent his message about the breaking of this command to his people in the city of Ephesus:

But I have this against you, that you have left your first love. (2:4)

In what way did the Ephesians leave their first love, and how has the 21st century Christian Church left its first love?  Let’s see what else the Scriptures have to say.  Therein we will find the answers to these questions.

The First Commandment is further elaborated upon in the Torah, where the concept of setting aside of other gods is expanded and explained:

Yahuwah your Elohim is the one you must fear, him alone you must serve, his is the name by which you must swear. ‘Do not follow other gods, gods of the peoples round you, for Yahuwah your Elohim among you is a jealous Elohim; the wrath of Yahuwah your Elohim would blaze out against you, and he would wipe you off the face of the earth.  Do not put Yahuwah your Elohim to the test as you tested him at Massah.  Keep the commandments of Yahuwah your Elohim, and his instructions and laws which he has laid down for you, and do what Yahuwah regards as right and good…. (Deuteronomy 5:13-18, NJB)

[Has today’s world of Christian’s filled with fruitless selfishness, loving themselves only via actions, and coveting earthly items pleasing to Yahuwah that knows all things about each and every one of the Bible was written for?]

In this text, following other gods is sharply contrasted with keeping “the commandments of Yahuwah your Elohim, and his instructions and laws which he has laid down for you” and with doing “what Yahuwah regards as right and good.”  This clearly implies that to follow other gods is to worship those gods in ways contrary to the commandments of Yahuwah.

The text above also implies that “following other gods” can be defined as attempting to worship Yahuwah in the way that others worship their pagan gods.  Yahuwah expressly forbids such worship of Him.  He hates and rejects attempts to worship Him in the way and manner in which pagans worship their idol gods.  This point is explicitly made in another place in the Torah:

Now, these are the laws and customs which you must keep in the country which Yahuwah, Elohim of your ancestors, is giving you as yours, and which you must observe every day that you live in that country.  You must completely destroy all the places where the nations you dispossess have served their gods, on high mountains, on hills, under any spreading tree; you must tear down their altars, smash their sacred stones, burn their sacred poles, hack to bits the statues of their gods and obliterate their name from that place.  Not so must you behave towards Yahuwah your Elohim. (Deuteronomy 12:1-4, NJB)

Yahuwah does not want worship of Him to have anything to do with the worship of pagan idols.  The places where the other gods were worshiped were to be completely obliterated.  Nothing was to remain of the place or manner of worship of pagan gods.  Thus, worship of Him must be completely void of any hint or semblance of pagan gods.

This point is even made more plainly later on in that same chapter quoted above.  Not just the place, but the very manner in which the pagans worshipped their gods is intolerable before Yahuwah.  He must not be worshipped in the same manner the pagan gods are worshipped:

Faithfully keep and obey all these orders which I am giving you, so that you and your children after you may prosper for ever, doing what is good and right in the eyes of Yahuwah your Elohim.  When Yahuwah your Elohim has annihilated the nations confronting you, whom you are going to dispossess, and when you have dispossessed them and made your home in their country, beware of being entrapped into copying them, after they have been destroyed to make way for you, and do not enquire about their gods, saying, “How did these nations worship their gods? I am going to do the same too.”  This is not the way to treat Yahuwah your Elohim. For in honour of their gods they have done everything detestable that Yahuwah hates; yes, in honour of their gods, they even burn their own sons and daughters as sacrifices!’ (Deuteronomy 12:28-31, NJB)

The manner in which we worship Yahuwah is very important.  We are not to copy the pagans in the way they worship.  We are not to inquire into the way they worship.  Everything about the way they worship their idols is detestable to Elohim.  True worship of Yahuwah can never be after the manner of the worship of the pagans.

So, the book of Revelation describes the worship of the beast which, like the passages above imply, is very different from the true worship of Yahuwah:

I saw one of his heads as if it had been slain, and his fatal wound was healed. And the whole earth was amazed and followed after the beast; they worshiped the dragon because he gave his authority to the beast; and they worshiped the beast, saying, “Who is like the beast, and who is able to wage war with him?” (13:3,4, NJB)

In what way does the world now worship the beast, and how is the Christian Church presently worshipping the beast?  Granted, the system which is called “the Beast” in Revelation is not currently in its final form.  But we can look at the world and the present state of the Christian Church and we can see the Beast system and the Harlot taking shape in the Church.

We have already identified the Beast and the Woman riding the Beast.  It is the institution which has its home base in Rome.  The Roman Catholic Church and her daughters, the Protestant Churches, constitute the “Woman.”  They, along with the rest of the world, are worshipping after the manner of the Beast.  How is this possible?  How can we make such a claim?  Precisely by applying the truths about worship which we have just discovered above.

Yahuwah is not being worshipped “in spirit and in truth” when people who call themselves by His name practice worship of Him the way the pagans worship their gods.  The entire Christian world – Roman Catholics and Protestants, alike – worship Elohim in a manner which is detestable to Him.  The vast majority of the entire Christian world worships Elohim on Sunday, the venerable day of the Sun, like the pagans worship their gods, in stark contrast to the manner in which He has expressly commanded His people to worship.  At creation, Elohim established the Sabbath day, and sanctified it as the day He is to be worshipped.  But the whole Christian world rejects this way of worshipping Him and wants to worship Him on Sunday instead – which is the time and manner that the pagans worshipped their idol gods

And, the entire Christian world – Roman Catholics and Protestants, alike – celebrate the birthday of Jesus in a manner contrary to how Yahuwah has expressly commanded in His word.  They – along with the rest of misled Christianity and more scattered worldwide – celebrate the birth of Christ on the 25th of December, which is the birthday of pagan Nimrod and the birthday of the invincible Sun and the birthday of numerous other pagan deities.  This kind of worship is completely detestable to Elohim.  He hates it.  And He rejects it.  Why won’t the Christian world celebrate the incarnation (birth of Christ) on the anniversary of when it actually happened?  In the fall of the year at the time of the Festival of Tabernacles, which Elohim commanded to be the appointed time and manner to worship the Living Elohim, is when Yahusha the Messiah was born.

And, the entire Christian world – Roman Catholics and Protestants, alike – commemorate the death and resurrection of Christ at a time and in a manner which is detestable to Elohim.  The Christian Church and the entire world with them, celebrate Easter, even though everyone knows this is the pagan celebration of Ishtar, the pagan goddess of fertility, whose origins are ancient Babylon.  And Elohim abhors this “worship” of Him, too.  Yahusha the Savior told his disciples to remember His death at the time of the eating of the Unleavened Bread and the wine – a celebration of Yahuwah’s Passover which He shared with His disciples.  Passover is the appointed time and manner which Yahuwah has established for His people to remember and worship Him.

It’s no wonder that Yahuwah describes the institution which claims to house his people in the last days an Harlot!  The Christian Church truly has played the harlot by attempting to worship the living Elohim by practicing many detestable pagan practices year after year after year – and claiming that they are doing it for Him!  Thus, the Christian Church is guilty of practicing the breaking of the First Commandment continually before Elohim.

The Second Commandment

But, there’s more.  The Christian Church is also guilty of breaking the Second Commandment in the book of Revelation and in our day.

Commandment 2:  You shall not make for yourself an idol, or any likeness of what is in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the water under the earth.  You shall not worship them or serve them; for I, Yahuwah your Elohim, am a jealous Elohim, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children, on the third and the fourth generations of those who hate Me, but showing loving kindness to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments.

While the First Commandment expressly forbids the worshipping of anyone or anything other than Elohim, the Second Commandment expressly forbids the manufacture of objects or images of any kind to be used in worship.  These two commands are closely linked.  Yet they are distinct.

In Revelation we find worship of two different entities.  There is the true worship of Elohim, and there is the worship of the Beast.  The call of Elohim is for His people to come out of Babylon and worship Him, but most people are worshipping the image to the Beast:

And he deceives those who dwell on the earth because of the signs which it was given him to perform in the presence of the beast, telling those who dwell on the earth to make an image to the beast who had the wound of the sword and has come to life. And it was given to him to give breath to the image of the beast, so that the image of the beast would even speak and cause as many as do not worship the image of the beast to be killed. (13:14-15, NAS)

So the first angel went and poured out his bowl on the earth; and it became a loathsome and malignant sore on the people who had the mark of the beast and who worshiped his image. (16:2, NAS)

This worshipping of the image of the Beast is clearly a reference to worship in a way contrary to the Commandments of Elohim.  Worshipping the image of the Beast is simply breaking the Second Commandment, which forbids worship of manufactured objects or images.  Such worship which is contrary to the Commandments of Elohim indicates an allegiance to the Beast system.  But worship of the Living Elohim is always done in compliance with His Ten Commandments:

Elohim warns mankind not to worship in ways contrary to his commandments.  He states the consequences of breaking the Second Commandment:

Then another angel, a third one, followed them, saying with a loud voice, “If anyone worships the beast and his image, and receives a mark on his forehead or on his hand, he also will drink of the wine of the wrath of Elohim, which is mixed in full strength in the cup of His anger; and he will be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels and in the presence of the Lamb. (14:9,10, NAS)

So, those who worship the image of the Beast are those who will be lost to eternity.

[As if they never were as back to the dust they came from – and I speak those words because our Father Elohim of love cannot be a God of eternal torture as most religions believe and teach their blinded congregations]

[“For as you [Edom] have drunk upon the mountain of My holiness [desecrating it in the wild revelry of the destroyers], so shall all the nations drink continually [in turn, of My wrath]; yes, they shall drink, talk foolishly, and swallow down [the full measure of punishment] and they shall be [destroyed] as though they had not been. Obadiah 16 (KJV)] – Resurrected or not is another subject found in my many links at end just as eternal hell fire I do not believe in.

But Elohim’s faithful ones are identified as those who have not worshipped the image of the Beast, because they know better than to be worshipping images.

And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded because of their testimony of Yahusha and because of the word of Elohim, and those who had not worshiped the beast or his image, and had not received the mark on their forehead and on their hand; and they came to life and reigned with Christ for a thousand years. (20:4, NAS) [firstfruits being few of the many]

But how is the Christian Church today breaking the second commandment?  Have they “made an image to the Beast” and “worshipped his image”?  Indeed they have!  But first, a little history….  The ancient Babylonians began the mother\child cult worship which is still alive and well today.  Nimrod of the Bible was the founder of this false religion.  He is known as Ninus in historical documentation.  Scripture says that Nimrod “was a mighty hunter before Yahuwah” (Genesis 10:9, Mine)  The Histori Romani Scriptorium states that. . .

Ninus strengthened the greatness of his acquired dominion by continued possession. Having subdued, therefore, his neighbors, when, by an accession of forces, being still further strengthened, he went forth against other tribes, and every new victory paved the way for another, he subdued all the peoples of the east.

Thus, Nimrod was feared in his day.  The city he built was named after him.  Nineveh means “the habitation of Ninus.”

Semiramis was married to Ninus (the Nimrod of the Bible).  After Nimrod died, Semiramis continued the pagan worship he had inspired and declared that Ninus had become the Sun god and was to be worshipped.  She had an illegitimate son and named him Tammuz.  To cover her adultery, she claimed that Tammuz was supernaturally conceived and that Tammuz was actually the reincarnated Ninus.  This Tammuz is the same one spoken of by the prophet Jeremiah, who sees women in the temple of Yahuwah facing east and weeping for Tammuz.  The pagan practices begun in ancient Babylon by Nimrod had still been practiced by the Israelites in Jeremiah’s day!

Thus, the Babylonian counterfeit religion featured the mother, Semiramis, and her son who was also her reincarnated husband.  Thus, her son was both from his father and he was the father (cf. John 1:1 where the Word was with Elohim and the Word was Elohim )!!  This counterfeit of the relationship between the true heavenly Father and His Son is both clever and perverse.

This Babylonian mother-child cult worship was mimicked in all the major cultures of the world, and thus found its way through history all the way to Jeremiah’s day and beyond.  In Egypt, the mother and child were known as Isis and Osiris.  In India, as Isi and Iswara.  In Asia, as Cybele and Deoius.  In ancient Rome as Fortuna and Jupiter.  In Greece, as Ceres and Plutus.  Even in Tibet, China and Japan, the mother and child have their counterpart as Shing Moo and her son, and they too are depicted as a mother with a child in her arms with a ring of glory around her – just as the Roman Catholics depict Mary and the infant Jesus!

In Persia and afterward in Rome, Mithraism was the renamed Babylonian mother-child worship.  Just as Ninus (Nimrod) was the sun god of the Babylonians, Mithras was the sun god of the Persian Empire, whose rebirth (birthday) was celebrated at the winter solstice around December 25th.  Like the mother-child religions of the other cultures which were copied and renamed from the Babylonian mother-child cult, Mithraism had its mother and child:

Mithras was born of Anahita, an immaculate virgin mother once worshipped as a fertility goddess before the hierarchical reformation. Anahita was said to have conceived the Saviour from the seed of Zarathustra preserved in the waters of Lake Hamun in the Persian province of Sistan. Mithra’s ascension to heaven was said to have occurred in 208 B.C., 64 years after his birth. This birth took place in a cave or grotto, where shepherds attended him and regaled him with gifts, at the winter solstice. (Payam Nabaraz, Mithras and Mithraism, http://www.taivaansusi.net/historia/mithraism.html)

The religion of Mithraism outlasted the Persian Empire and was adopted by the Roman Empire as the dominant faith of the Romans.  Mithraism remained in place until the fourth century of the common era when it “mysteriously” disappeared – about the same time that Christianity was declared by Constantine to be the new official religion of the Roman Empire.  But it didn’t really disappear.  You see, Mithraism merely got renamed.  It came to be called Christianity, with Mary and Jesus as the mother and child!

The apostle Shaul (Paul) warns his readers about worshipping a different Jesus other than the one he proclaimed:

For if someone comes to you and preaches a Yahusha other than the Yahusha we preached, or if you receive a different spirit from the one you received, or a different gospel from the one you accepted, you put up with it easily enough. (2 Corinthians 11:4, NIV)

Who might Shaul have been speaking of?  Was there actually another “Jesus” who was the object of worship in the first century of the common era?  Indeed there was.  He was also known as Mithras, and the pictures of him are identical to the images which purport to depict Yahusha of Nazareth!

Now, getting back to the breaking of the 2nd Commandment….  How is the Christian Church breaking the commandment which forbids the manufacture and adoration (worship) of idols and images?  During the amalgamation of Mithraism and the biblical faith, Christianity accepted many of the worship practices of Mithraism, which are still present in the church today.  Even the images of Christianity are the same images found in Mithraism and in ancient Babylon.

The Roman Catholic Church features statues and images of saints in their worship, and these statues line the walls of their churches.  The most popular of these statues and images is that of the virgin Mary, who is usually depicted with the child in her arms.  Catholics everywhere have these statues and images in their churches, in their yards and in their homes.  Protestants have their version of these images.  They have “pictures of Jesus” in their churches and in their homes.  But the picture of “Jesus” is usually one of a Jesus that fits into their culture.  The Caucasians depict a light-skinned Jesus.  The Blacks display a black-skinned Jesus.  Hispanics portray Jesus as an Hispanic.  American Indians have pictures of an “Indian Jesus.”  And so on….  Sadly, Christian people want to make Jesus in their own image – which insults the Creator.  He rebuffs this kind of activity:

Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools and exchanged the glory of the immortal Elohim for images made to look like mortal man and birds and animals and reptiles. (Romans 1:22,23, NAS)

It is wrong to have statues and images of Jesus and of Mary or of any other man or animal.  Yet many Christians have these images anyway – to adore them and to “bring us closer to God.”  Many such images sit in the yard of the worshipper to “bring good luck.”  But Yahuwah does not permit this kind of worship of Him:

Do not make idols or set up an image or a sacred stone for yourselves, and do not place a carved stone in your land to bow down before it. I am the Yahuwah your Elohim. (Leviticus 26:1, NIV with Hebrew names restored, emphasis mine)

Not only is it wrong to have these images, but the images they adore are not even images of people in the Bible!  They are replicas of the worship of Tammuz, Semiramis, Nimrod, Mithras, Ra and the like.  The statues and images of the mother and child are NOT Mary and Yahusha!  They are Semiramis and Tammuz.  The images depicting the mother and the child, which are usually thought to be Mary and Yahusha, are actually images depicting Semiramis and Tammuz, the reincarnated the sun god.  Semiramis received the title “mother of god” and “queen of heaven” – titles which, as we all know, are attached to Mary, the Virgin mother of Yahusha!

On some of the statues and images of saints and especially of the Virgin Mother and child is a halo which encircles the head.  Christians believe that this is a depiction of the glory of Elohim.  But it is not.  It is called a nimbus and it encircles the head of the Sun god and of worshippers of the Sun god.  The nimbus, or radiant light, represents the radiating light of the sun.

The nimbus is found on many images and statues of the sun god of ancient times.  And, many Catholic images, statues and pictures of Jesus, Mary and the other saints depict that person with a “glow” around his or her head.  Again, this is NOT the glory of Elohim being depicted, as Christians are led to believe.  It is the radiating light of the SUN god of Babylonian origin.

Pictures and images of Jesus which are found in the churches and homes of Catholic and Protestant Christians often feature this nimbus around his head.  Furthermore, they usually do not depict him the way he really appeared as he walked through the Promised land.  The typical Torah-observant Jew of his day (and of our day, for that matter) is one who is wearing a four cornered garment with tassels (tzit-tzit) hanging from the four corners.  The images of Jesus which are so popular in Christian churches never portray him in this Torah-observant manner.  This is probably due to the utter disdain most Christians have for the Torah.  Anyway, Jesus is usually depicted as wearing a long white robe without tzit-tzit (tassles) at the four corners of his garment, which is clearly taught by the Torah, which we know he observed perfectly!

The pictures and images used by Christians of all denominations to “adore,” “worship,” or merely “remind them of Jesus” is a present evidence that the people who congregate in Christian churches are guilty of breaking the second commandment.  For Elohim clearly forbids any manufactured statues, idols, depictions or images to be used in the true worship of Him.  And given that many of those images and statues used by Christians in their worship or adoration of Jesus, Mary and the saints are replicas of images, statues and idols used in ancient Babylon and in many other pagan worship systems is the evidence that the Christian Church has, indeed, been guilty of worshipping the Beast.  For, in worshipping Elohim by using the images, figures and statues made popular in the modern day Christian religion, Christians have been breaking Elohim’s second commandment and have been unwittingly worshipping “the Beast and his image” (cf. Revelation 14:9).

The Third Commandment

Furthermore, the Christian Church is guilty of constantly breaking the Third Commandment.  They do this as a matter of regular practice and they don’t even realize it!

Commandment 3:  You shall not take the name of Yahuwah your Elohim in vain, for Yahuwah will not leave him unpunished who takes His name in vain.

The New International Version renders the third commandment in this way:

You shall not misuse the name of the LORD your God, for the LORD will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses his name. (Exodus 20:7)

Most other English Bible translations render the verse much like the NIV has – with disdain and disrespect for the actual name of Elohim.

Note carefully the stark difference in how the Bible versions translate the name of Elohim.  The sacred name versions, including the one above, render Elohim’s name “Yahuwah” or the like.  However, most English Bible translations render Elohim’s sacred name “the LORD.”  Therein is the problem.  Elohim’s sacred, personal name is Yahuwah, not “the LORD.”  Even in the very verse in which Elohim expressly forbids misuse of His sacred name, translators have misused it!

The Christian Church, from very early in her history, has adopted the same doctrine and practice as the Jews in regard to Elohim’s sacred name.  The Creator placed his sacred name into the Hebrew Scriptures over 6000 times, because he wants to be identified and known by his unique, personal name Yahuwah.  Yet the Jews and now the Christians have covered up, hidden and buried His sacred name and have placed a substitute designation in its place!  And, ironically, this is exactly what Elohim said NOT to do in the Third Commandment.

Elohim expressed to Moses that his personal name, Yahuwah, is the name by which he is to be called by all generations of people:

Elohim also said to Moses, “Say to the Israelites, ‘Yahuwah, the Elohim of your fathers– the Elohim of Abraham, the Elohim of Isaac and the Elohim of Jacob– has sent me to you.’ This is my name forever, the name by which I am to be remembered from generation to generation. (Exodus 3:15, NIV with some Hebrew names restored)

Yet, the Jews, after the time of the persecution by Antiochus Epiphanies, decided that the best way to protect the sacred name from misuse would be to forbid its use!!  And the Christian Church leaders and theologians have concurred with this sincere, but misguided, attempt to “honor” Elohim’s sacred name.

Elohim has made it abundantly clear that He wants all people to know and (properly) use His sacred name, Yahuwah.  Most of his mighty miracles were done with the expressed purpose of bringing attention to His name:

They will know that I am Yahuwah their Elohim, who brought them out of Egypt so that I might dwell among them. I am Yahuwah their Elohim. (Exodus 29:46, NIV with sacred name restored)

Therefore my people will know my name; therefore in that day they will know that it is I who foretold it. Yes, it is I.” (Isaiah 52:6, NIV)

Elohim fights for his people and routs the enemy in order to make everyone see that he is Yahuwah.

I will contend with those who contend with you, and your children I will save.  I will make your oppressors eat their own flesh; they will be drunk on their own blood, as with wine. Then all mankind will know that I, Yahuwah, am your Savior, your Redeemer, the Mighty One of Jacob.” (Isaiah 49:25-26, NIV, with sacred name restored)

The prophet Ezekiel reiterates dozens of times the phrase, “they will know that I am Yahuwah.”

And they will know that I am Yahuwah, when their people lie slain among their idols around their altars, on every high hill and on all the mountaintops, under every spreading tree and every leafy oak– places where they offered fragrant incense to all their idols. And I will stretch out my hand against them and make the land a desolate waste from the desert to Diblah–wherever they live. Then they will know that I am Yahuwah. (Ezekiel 6:13, 14, NIV, with sacred name restored)

While the Scriptures are numerous which express Elohim’s thoughts that He wants his personal name to be known by all the world, most Christians, who claim to know him, don’t even know his personal name.  We have been fed a lie for centuries by our fathers, who have told us through their translations that “the LORD” is his name.  And most Christians have not given it another thought.  Jeremiah speaks of this lie which he wants to straighten out:

Surely our fathers have inherited lies, vanity, and things wherein there is no profit.  Shall a man make gods unto himself, and they are no gods?  Therefore, behold, I will this once cause them to know, I will cause them to know mine hand and my might; and they shall know that my name is Yahuwah. (Yirmyahu 16:19-21, KJV version with sacred name restored)

The designation, “the LORD,” is a substitution for Elohim’s personal name, which must be repugnant to Him.  The Third Commandment stipulates that his personal name Yahuwah is not to be “used in vain” or “taken lightly” or “emptied” or “misused.”  And yet, isn’t this precisely what we do when we replace his name with another designation.  We do, in fact, empty his name when we remove it and replace it with “the LORD.”

For the Jew in Antiochus’ time, and up to and beyond the time of Yahusha’s life on earth, merely speaking the sacred name was considered blasphemy and was punishable by death. (For the details of this, see About God’s Holy Name)  Similarly, the book of Revelation foresees men in the last days blaspheming Elohim and His holy name:

And he opened his mouth in blasphemies against Elohim, to blaspheme His name and His tabernacle, that is, those who dwell in heaven. (13:6)

Their punishment is also described:

Men were scorched with fierce heat; and they blasphemed the name of Elohim who has the power over these plagues, and they did not repent so as to give Him glory. (16:9)

But those who know and regard His name and receive the reward given by Elohim are figuratively pictured as having the sacred name written on their foreheads:

Then I looked, and behold, the Lamb was standing on Mount Zion, and with Him one hundred and forty-four thousand, having His name and the name of His Father written on their foreheads. (14:1)

There will no longer be any curse; and the throne of Elohim and of the Lamb will be in it, and His bond-servants will serve Him; they will see His face, and His name will be on their foreheads. (22:3, 4)

[https://dochub.com/timesoftrouble/ZOXmRb/the-true-pronunciation-of-the-sacred-name] – Why I use Yehovah rather than Yahuwah. Proverbs 3:6

This symbolic representation of Elohim’s people having his sacred name Yahuwah written on their foreheads calls to mind, in contrast, those who worship the Beast:  Worshippers of the Beast are seen as blaspheming Elohim’s name (breaking the third commandment) and as having the Beast’s name on their foreheads:

He also forced everyone, small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on his right hand or on his forehead, so that no one could buy or sell unless he had the mark, which is the name of the beast or the number of his name. (Revelation 13:16-17, NIV)

Evidently, this subtle contrast between the worshippers of Yahuwah, who have His name on their foreheads, with the worshippers of the Beast, who have the mark or name of the Beast on their foreheads, is meant to underline the important of obedience to Elohim’s Third Commandment.  Indeed, worshipping Him and honoring His sacred name go hand in hand:

“Who will not fear, O Lord, and glorify Your name? For You alone are holy; For ALL THE NATIONS WILL COME AND WORSHIP BEFORE YOU, FOR YOUR RIGHTEOUS ACTS HAVE BEEN REVEALED.” (15:4)

Those who worship Him in truth will glorify His name by properly using it!

The Fourth Commandment

As the reader might have guessed by now, we are presently going to offer evidence from Revelation that the Fourth Commandment is also being continuously broken by the Christian Church along with all who worship the Beast.

The proof of this one is simple.  On what day of the week do most Christians worship the living Elohim?  Do they not worship on Sunday, the first day of the week?  Indeed, the Sabbath day of the Scriptures has become just another work day in the eyes of the Christian churches in the world today.  And Elohim’s sacred day is dishonored every week.  Christianity has not remembered the Sabbath day to keep it holy, as the Fourth Commandment directs.  To be sure, they utterly forget, ignore and violate the Fourth Commandment.

The Christian Church mistakenly believes that the Sabbath has been done away with.  But several prophesies of the book of Revelation suggest, hint and imply that obedience to the seventh day Sabbath is an important characteristic of Elohim’s remnant in the last days.  Someone may object: if the Sabbath is so important to Elohim then why doesn’t the book of Revelation just plainly say it?  To answer this we must refer back to what Yahusha once said to his disciples when they asked him why he spoke to the people in parables:

The disciples came to him and asked, “Why do you speak to the people in parables?”  He replied, “The knowledge of the secrets of the kingdom of heaven has been given to you, but not to them.  Whoever has will be given more, and he will have an abundance. Whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken from him.  This is why I speak to them in parables: Though seeing, they do not see; though hearing, they do not hear or understand.  In them is fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah: ‘You will be ever hearing but never understanding; you will be ever seeing but never perceiving.  For this people’s heart has become calloused; they hardly hear with their ears, and they have closed their eyes. Otherwise they might see with their eyes, hear with their ears, understand with their hearts and turn, and I would heal them.’ (Matthew 13:10-15, NIV)

Yahusha spoke to the crowds in parables so that those who did not believe would not be able to understand.  Only those who were intimately familiar with the Torah and the Prophets because of their personal interest in the living Elohim would be able to understand.

[unless their selfish greed keeps them separated from who their lips claim to love as written in too much scripture to even share which is totally ignored by most all believers in word only being everywhere on this earth soon to be in the worst timesoftrouble ever before on this globe.]

This same principle can (and should) be applied to the prophesies of Revelation.  Much of what is written about in Revelation is done so in figures of speech, parables, “hidden” illustrations and allusions to Scriptures, which, if the reader is not familiar with, he will completely, miss the point and misinterpret what is being communicated.  This is so that most people will NOT understand it.  But, for those who are living the Torah, [with loving others included] the Prophets and the Scriptures, the message of Revelation will become clear.

The Fourth Commandment calls for remembering the Sabbath day because Elohim established the Sabbath rest at creation for the benefit of ALL mankind (not just for the “Old Testament” Jews).  And in the issuing of the Sabbath commandment in Shemot (Exodus) 20, Yahuwah identifies himself as the one who “made the heavens and the earth, the sea and all that is in them.”  This reference calls to mind the fact that the Sabbath was instituted by the Creator at creation.  For this reason, the Sabbath commandment points to creation as its source and to the Creator as its authority.  And obedience to the Sabbath commandment uniquely identifies those who wish to serve and worship the Creator.

This phrase which identifies the Creator – the one who “made the heavens and the earth, the sea and all that is in them” – is echoed in several other Scriptures which make the point that Yahuwah is the Creator of the universe:

May you be blessed by Yahuwah, the Maker of heaven and earth. (Psalm 115:15, NIV with sacred name restored)

Blessed is he whose help is the Elohim of Jacob, whose hope is in Yahuwah his Elohim, the Maker of heaven and earth, the sea, and everything in them — Yahuwah, who remains faithful forever. (Psalm 146:5, 6, NIV, with Hebrew names restored)

And in the Brit Hadashah, the apostle Shaul identifies Yahusha as the one who was with the Father during creation:

He is the image of the invisible Elohim, the firstborn over all creation.  For by him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him. (Colossians 1:15-16, NIV)

Things in heaven and on earth” brings to remembrance the way the Creator is identified in the Sabbath commandment as the one who “made the heavens and the earth, the sea and all that is in them.”  Therefore, the phrase – “made the heavens and the earth, the sea and all that is in them” – is associated with the Sabbath day and the Lord of the Sabbath.

So, when we come to the book of Revelation, it is natural for the writer to associate this phrase with the Sabbath:

Then the angel whom I saw standing on the sea and on the land lifted up his right hand to heaven, and swore by Him who lives forever and ever, WHO CREATED HEAVEN AND THE THINGS IN IT, AND THE EARTH AND THE THINGS IN IT, AND THE SEA AND THE THINGS IN IT, that there will be delay no longer, but in the days of the voice of the seventh angel, when he is about to sound, then the mystery of Elohim is finished, as He preached to His servants the prophets. (10:5-7)

This hint at the Sabbath commandment may appear, at this point, to be merely coincidental until we note that the phrase, “who made the heaven and the earth and sea and springs of waters,” is the one the writer of Revelation choose to utilize later on in his invitation to all people of the last days to worship Elohim:

And I saw another angel flying in midheaven, having an eternal gospel to preach to those who live on the earth, and to every nation and tribe and tongue and people; and he said with a loud voice, “Fear Elohim, and give Him glory, because the hour of His judgment has come; worship Him who made the heaven and the earth and sea and springs of waters.” (14:6,7)

This phrase is intended to bring the understanding reader to a remembrance of the Sabbath commandment.  Worship of the one who made heaven, earth and sea is textually linked to Sabbath worship.  So, the proper worship of Him who made the heaven and the earth and sea and springs of waters is grounded in the remembering of the Sabbath day which the Creator so instituted at creation.

This conclusion is confirmed and supported a few verses later in this same call to worship, where worship of the Creator is associated with the term “rest”:

Then another angel, a third one, followed them, saying with a loud voice, “If anyone worships the beast and his image, and receives a mark on his forehead or on his hand, he also will drink of the wine of the wrath of Elohim, which is mixed in full strength in the cup of His anger; and he will be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels and in the presence of the Lamb.” And the smoke of their torment goes up forever and ever; they have no rest day and night, those who worship the beast and his image, and whoever receives the mark of his name.”  Here is the perseverance of the saints who keep the commandments of Elohim and their faith in Yahusha.  And I heard a voice from heaven, saying, “Write, ‘Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on!'” “Yes,” says the Spirit, “so that they may rest from their labors, for their deeds follow with them.  (14:9-13)

Here the worshippers of the Beast have no “rest,” because they have refused to obey Yah’s call to worship Him on the Sabbath day, which is the day He gives rest to His obedient people.  But those saints who keep the commandments of Elohim (and have faith in Yahusha) will rest from their labors.  The people of Elohim have rest because they join the Creator in His rest on the seventh day, in obedience to His commandments!

[Where in the commandments is the Christian greed that I have experienced for 10 years acceptable to Yah?]

The juxtaposition of the terms “rest” and “keep the commandments” in relationship to the call to worship Yahuwah, the “Creator of heaven and earth and the sea and all that is in them” is no coincidence.  How much plainer could the writer of Revelation made it for the Torah-observant reader while still obscuring its meaning from the unbelievers?  It is already nearly obvious that he is referring to obedience to the Fourth Commandment which promises rest to those who worship Elohim – the Creator of heaven, earth and sea and all that is in them.

The 21st century Christian Church does not rest on the seventh day, nor do they worship the Creator according to the simple parameters of the Fourth Commandment.  And as such, they do not find Yahuwah’s promised rest.  But the call to come out of Babylon is still being sounded.  There’s still time to repent and believe the good news!

Conclusion

Babylon the great, the mother of harlots and of the abominations of the earth is the modern day pagan religious system which is propagating the Babylonian system of worship.  And who is the modern day equivalent of ancient Babylon, out of whom Elohim is calling his people?  It is the city of Rome and the authority which Rome’s religious institution has exercised over men.  And who is the harlot?  No surprise here: it’s the whole Christian church – Catholic and Protestant – all who claim the name of Jesus and worship him according to the customs, traditions and practices of ancient pagan Babylon.

The Christian Church of our day is like the ostrich depicted in the background graphic of this web page.  Christians have voluntarily buried their heads in the sand.  They intuitively know where their own worship practices and customs come from.  They know the true roots and origin of Christmas and Easter.  They know that the Scriptures teach that the seventh day of the week is the Sabbath of Yahuwah, the Maker of heaven and earth.  And they can easily find out that Sunday is not, by any stretch of the imagination, the “Christian Sabbath.”  Yet they choose to ignore the clear evidence of Scripture and history, and worship Elohim in a way which He has plainly declared is an abomination to Him.  He rejects artificial and man made attempts to worship Him contrary to his revelation.

Since the time of the writing of the early portions of Scriptures, Yahuwah has been calling out a people for himself, [John 15:18-21] from among the nations and from among the abominable practices of the race of mankind standing in rebellion against his ways.  That call to “come out of her, my people” is still ringing out today.  Yahuwah wants to bring a holy people into his kingdom of righteousness with Messiah Yahusha as the King.  But we must respond to him now.  We must repent of the lies told to us by our fathers and forefathers, and return to living and obeying his Torah with all our heart, soul and strength.  If we are sincere about serving and following Yahusha of Nazareth, then we must have nothing to do with the ways of ancient pagan traditions given birth in ancient Babylon, and which are still being propagated and practiced in the traditional customs of nearly all Christian churches today.

“Come out of her, my people,” He begs.  Choose Yahuwah and serve him alone. [without greed being your God]

How Genuine People Behave: Who is Real and Who is Fake

shout_never-tell-your-problems-to-anyone

We humans are poor critics of someone’s true personality and we are quick to judge someone based on their outer demeanour, [the way a person behaves towards others] instead of their true selves. It is only so hard to differentiate one from the other because there is only a fine line between being truly nice and fake magnanimity. Differentiating the genuine souls from the pretentious ones is pretty hard and we often end up being close to people who don’t truly care about you or your issues. Fake people have this kind of air around them that makes them appear to be genuine and no one can really tell the difference!

Identifying and keeping the genuine people, the people who seriously care about your well-being is essential for a happy life. Be it in your business, educational life, friendships and life in general, keeping the genuine souls closer to you will save you from a lot of pain and trouble. So, as I was repeatedly reiterating the fact that fake people are harder to differentiate from the genuine ones, how can you go about differentiating between the same? There are some striking characteristics of genuine people which make them easily stand out from the fake ones, whose candour towards you or others is not genuine.

7 Striking Characteristics of Genuine people

Here are 7 of the striking characteristics of genuine people, so that you don’t fall into the trap of the fake people. Fake people possess a candour [state or quality of being frank, open, and sincere in speech or expression] of the ‘true good to be true’ stature and it is necessary that you steer away from such people for a peaceful mind. Below are the 7 striking characteristics of genuine people so that you can identify and keep these people close to your lives.

They Speak their minds out

shout_speak-my-mind

These are the kind of people who go on and say things that need to be said. Even it if costs them a relationship or a serious business. Genuine people would never sugarcoat the reality for the sake of pleasing everyone around themselves. These people generally take the time to form their opinions and to better understand their perspective on situations and people. These are the ones who are not quick to make heavy criticisms about others without getting a deeper look at the situation. Although once formed an opinion or landed upon an insight, these people never shy away from making others know of the same.

Also, these people are extremely at ease even while they are laying down the harsh reality to others. Also, the genuine people possess the ability to take a joke on themselves and entertain it when no offense was intended, given that they don’t take themselves too seriously. Genuine people objectify themselves as the same indiscriminate way that they do with other people or situations. This often leads them to gain genuine and meaningful insights into the people and the situations around themselves.

IN ALL THAT I HAVE BEEN DIRECTED TO SPEAK REGARDING BIBLICAL INSTRUCTION CHRISTIANITY IGNORES, I SPEAK WHILE KNOWING THE CIRCUMSTANCE AS WRITTEN:

“If you belonged to the world, the world would treat you with affection and would love you as its own. But because you are not of the world [no longer one with it], but I have chosen (selected) you out of the world, the world hates (detests) you. John 15:19 (AMPC)

They prefer deep conversations over gossips and small talk

shout_small-talk

A very humanly trait of people is that we engage on some kind of gossip on a daily basis. They have become such an essential part of our existence that it is hard to expect otherwise from someone. Genuine people have zero tolerance for such gossips and make sure that they are not playing a part in such small talk. Instead, genuine people prefer to have a deep and meaningful conversation with the people around them. You can easily identify a genuine person when you can have a meaningful conversation with them, without them feeling an urge to interrupt with their own agendas.

These people have a thing for stories and will always welcome an interesting thought or idea from your end and, without interrupting you while doing so. These are the kind of people who will engage with you in some kind of deep philosophical conversations. Genuine people love and care to learn about you, your story and what shaped it to be the way you are right now. Intense and Intellectually-stimulating talks about life in general, purpose, the human race and society are some examples of talks you would usually engage with genuine people.

They possess a good balance of self-esteem

shout_be-who-you-are

Quantifying a person’s self-esteem is definitely something not within the capacity of humans, but there are a few key identifiers for the same. A narcissistic person is the one who usually possesses an air of pride, negligence, and highest self-esteem about themselves. People with low self-esteem are anxiously unsure about themselves and always feel needy of love and attention as if being devoured of it. There’s a sweet spot that genuine people embrace with grace and this perfect balance in self-esteem makes them who they are.

A person with stable self-esteem is pretty rare these days and this very quality makes the genuine people able to handle criticisms, take responsibility of their failures and they embrace their imperfections with grace. Genuine people are wary of their shortcomings and have an ability to take in both positive and negative feedback about themselves or their work. These are the kind of people who actively acknowledge aspects of their shortcomings and constantly work on improving upon their weaknesses.

They accept and take full responsibility of their mistakes

shout_stop-blaming-others

The quality of a person with well-balanced self-esteem are the ones who take full responsibility of any kind of mess they end up creating. These people are the ones who are the last ones to put the blame on people around them. Loathing and always looking forward to putting their outcomes onto the shoulders of people around them is the least you can expect off a genuine person.

It is very hard to expect people to truly own their feelings and opinions on people and situations. Confronting the bad in oneself is a pretty daunting task and it takes an authentic character to face with the reality and to execute change. Genuine people embrace themselves and their individuality and this very factor makes them more appreciative of people around them and less likely to put the blame onto others.

They don’t go around trying to please everybody

shout_cant-please-everybody

Again, another factor of the highly genuine people is that they don’t feel a need for acceptance from people around them. Fake people are not true to themselves given that they get too busy trying to please everyone else in the process. Since genuine people are not always trying to please everyone, you usually don’t find them seeking people’s attention or with an urge to be liked.

Although these people are quick to give out compliments to people who they think are deserving of it, genuine people don’t do so just for the sake of pleasing everyone around. Authentic people share their thoughts and opinions with the people without considering the possibility of it making them more hated. Genuine people are fine if you like them and likewise fine if you dislike them.

They listen to their in  nselves

shout_listen-to-your-inner-voice

The world we currently live in very noisy and all we are surrounded with most of the time is advice and opinions on things and situations. While it is very easy to get lost in such immense outcries of people, the authentic people have developed an ability to listen to their inner selves and go with their gut feelings. Genuine people don’t pursue a career or dream, just because someone else is performing exceptionally good at it.

Because genuine people are well aware of themselves, this level of self-awareness helps them to be in tune with their inner voice. Very wary of their own shortcomings and strengths, genuine people follow their gut instincts and are very comfortable with who they are. We all do something, behave some way and feel some way primarily because of our unique principles and beliefs that we live by. It is in the better understanding of their own principles which help genuine people to ignore the crowd and to follow their heart.

WHEN OUR LIFE BECOMES ONLY SEEING THIS WORLD UNDER THE YOKE OF PATHETIC HUMAN RULE: ALL THAT REMAINS IS WHAT ONLY WE CAN HEAR INSIDE THROUGH FAITH

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
and do not lean on your own understanding.
In all your ways acknowledge him,
and he will make straight your paths. PROVERBS 3:5-6

They practice what they preach

shout_practice-what-you-preach

Although it could be hard to tell the difference between genuine and fake people, you can easily tell the difference by this very factor. It is very often that we hear opinions and advice from people on our situations when they haven’t been in our shoes. What’s even worse is the people who don’t stand by their own values or their beliefs. Authentic people own their opinions and advice and truly mean when they speak something.

Fake-Genuine people sincerely practice what they preach and they preach what they practice. These people are comfortable sharing their true self with people around themselves and do not hesitate to give away genuine opinions and advice to others. It is these people you need to keep away from since their self-righteous nature would not lead to any better situation for you.

When a person’s only life becomes totally disassociated with this world through spiritual lead and living with hardship from every direction for ten years – all that can be seen is this entire world of humans being just who they truly are; and that includes this world of Christian hypocrites overflowing with lip love — but in truth could care less about you, your problems, or anything but themselves. And I am just speaking truth according to scripture with years and years of experiences while being broke, hungry, unable to properly provide for my wife having many health issues, and living as a have not in a country where there is no work for a man of 61: therefore never judging any — but rather revealing truth for this world of Christian goats according to their actions that will face nearing judgment without mercy. How Christians Lacking Spiritual Knowledge Hate Yehovah God

1-corinthians-2-003

Then the disciples came to Him and asked, “Why do you speak to the crowds in parables?” Jesus replied to them, “To you it has been granted to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it has not been granted. For whoever has [spiritual wisdom because he is receptive to God’s word], to him more will be given, and he will be richly and abundantly supplied; but whoever does not have [spiritual wisdom because he has devalued God’s word], even what he has will be taken away from him. This is the reason I speak to the crowds in parables: because while [having the power of] seeing they do not see, and while [having the power of] hearing they do not hear, nor do they understand and grasp [spiritual things]. In them the prophecy of Isaiah is being fulfilled, which says,

‘You will hear and keep on hearing, but never understand;
And you will look and keep on looking, but never comprehend;

For this nation’s heart has grown hard,
And with their ears they hardly hear,
And they have [tightly] closed their eyes,
Otherwise they would see with their eyes,
And hear with their ears,
And understand with their heart, and turn [to Me]
And I would heal them [spiritually].’ Matthew 13:10-15 (AMP)

Following are words this world of Christianity, through actions, really has no understanding of;

“If the world hates you [and it does], know that it has hated Me before it hated you. If you belonged to the world, the world would love [you as] its own and would treat you with affection. But you are not of the world [you no longer belong to it], but I have chosen you out of the world. And because of this the world hates you. Remember [and continue to remember] that I told you, ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you. If they kept My word, they will keep yours also. But they will do all these [hurtful] things to you for My name’s sake [because you bear My name and are identified with Me], for they do not know the One who sent Me. John 15:18-21

Meaning of how Christian’s Hate Yeshua Messiah and Yehovah God the Father

This series of scriptures will highlight the world’s danger to us. The apostle James writes: “Adulterers and adulteresses! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God”

Do not all worldly Christians look only to themselves through material wants and desires while doing no deed for others, which our Father sees?

(James 4:4). This epistle is written to a Christian congregation. Even as the Old Testament shows Israel to be a spiritual adulteress to God through the people’s disobedience following the making of the Old Covenant, so are Christians—as part of the bride of Christ, having made the New Covenant—spiritual adulterers when they unfaithfully disobey.

James is not saying these people are lost. He is warning them that they are heading in that direction because they were backsliding, having already been unfaithful. The unstated, yet clear cause of their being drawn back is the world, as if it were the seductive temptress of Proverbs 7.

James’ counsel is that we cannot straddle the fence between YHVH and the world. He is expounding the “no man can serve two masters” principle. These two relationships—YHVH God and the world—frame a black-and-white issue; this war has no neutral zone. A person cannot pursue his self-centered, selfish worldly ambitions and still remain loyal to Yehovah.

The apostle uses the word philos, indicating something dear, which the New King James Version translates as “friend.” He is stressing an affectionate, emotional attachment. Interestingly, The New Testament in Modern English by J.B. Phillips (1959) renders the warning as, “You are like unfaithful wives, flirting with the glamour of this world, and never realizing that to be the world’s lover means becoming the enemy of God!” Seen this way, James describes them as silly, immature children, thoughtlessly gambling away their futures in the Kingdom of God.

I John 2:15 adds a refinement to James’ warning: “Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.” The Greek word translated as “love” is agapao, which suggests a reasoned, determined love. Thus, John’s counsel stresses willfulness rather than mere affectionate attachment. In comparison, one could even describe philos as an unbidden “puppy love,” but agapao—never.

John is saying that we should not have intimate fellowship combined with loyal devotion to the world. Our relationship to it must be a more distant, hands-off one. We certainly must live and do business within it, but we have to fight to keep it from becoming the focus of our way of life. The spiritual reality is that, as we might say today, “The world stands ready to eat us alive.” It chews Christians up and spits them out. If permitted, it can trash spiritual realities that may once have been cherished hopes and dreams.

Galatians 6:14 provides another guiding principle to hold dear: “But God forbid that I should boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.” This is an example of Paul’s spiritual outlook and maturity regarding his relationship with the world. As far as any relationship between him and the world is concerned, the world is dead and crucified, and so is he to it. It is vivid imagery. How much willful devotion can a person have in a relationship going nowhere because both parties are “dead” to each other with what follows adding more factual truth Christians seem to ignore.

Faith and Works

What is the benefit, my fellow believers, if someone claims to have faith but has no [good] works [as evidence]? Can that [kind of] faith save him? [No, a mere claim of faith is not sufficient—genuine faith produces good works.] If a brother or sister is without [adequate] clothing and lacks [enough] food for each day, and one of you says to them, “Go in peace [with my blessing], [keep] warm and feed yourselves,” but he does not give them the necessities for the body, what good does that do? So too, faith, if it does not have works [to back it up], is by itself dead [inoperative and ineffective].

But someone may say, “You [claim to] have faith and I have [good] works; show me your [alleged] faith without the works [if you can], and I will show you my faith by my works [that is, by what I do].” You believe that God is one; you do well [to believe that]. The demons also believe [that], and shudder and bristle [in awe-filled terror—they have seen His wrath]! But are you willing to recognize, you foolish [spiritually shallow] person, that faith without [good] works is useless? Was our father Abraham not [shown to be] justified by works [of obedience which expressed his faith] when he offered Isaac his son on the altar [as a sacrifice to God]? You see that [his] faith was working together with his works, and as a result of the works, his faith was completed [reaching its maturity when he expressed his faith through obedience]. And the Scripture was fulfilled which says, “Abraham believed God, and this [faith] was credited to him [by God] as righteousness and as conformity to His will,” and he was called the friend of God. You see that a man (believer) is justified by works and not by faith alone [that is, by acts of obedience a born-again believer reveals his faith]. In the same way, was Rahab the prostitute not justified by works too, when she received the [Hebrew] spies as guests and protected them, and sent them away [to escape] by a different route? For just as the [human] body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works [of obedience] is also dead. James 2:14-26

This is the fruit of the carnal mind having their persistently disobedient attitude.

“Now the mind of the flesh is death [both now and forever—because it pursues sin]; but the mind of the Spirit is life and peace [the spiritual well-being that comes from walking with God—both now and forever]; the mind of the flesh [with its sinful pursuits] is actively hostile to God. It does not submit itself to God’s law, since it cannot, and those who are in the flesh [living a life that caters to sinful appetites and impulses] cannot please God.

However, you are not [living] in the flesh [controlled by the sinful nature] but in the Spirit, if in fact the Spirit of God lives in you [directing and guiding you]. But if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Him [and is not a child of God].         Romans 8:6-9 (AMP)

The whole worldly system is anti-God. Even though the Christian world patronizes Him, in reality, it hates Jesus Christ, and therefore it hates those who truly follow Him just as I have been experiencing through these past nine years. There is a simple reason why this continual reality exists.

Paul had renounced the whole worldly system. It no longer had any appeal to him; he was, in effect, dead in relation to it. [Disassociated] However, the world’s pressure never ends, which Paul notes in Romans 12:2, “Do not be conformed to this world.” The Greek more correctly reads, “Stop allowing yourself to be fashioned to the pattern of this age,” or as the J.B. Phillips translation puts it, “Don’t let the world around you squeeze you into its own mold.

This is the danger we face when we allow the world to become too important. To be forewarned is to be forearmed. The world subtly but inexorably manipulates us into conformity with its thinking, its value systems, and therefore its attitudes and conduct. If we are alert and truly guarding against an invasion of worldly attitudes and practices, we will soon be able to notice when others relapse into following the course of the world; and who might that be?

“Behold, God puts no trust in His holy ones (angels);
Indeed, the heavens are not pure in His sight—

How much less [pure and clean is] the one who is repulsive and corrupt,
Man, who drinks unrighteousness and injustice [worldly ways] like water! Job 15:15-16
“The Lord has looked down from heaven upon the children of men
To see if there are any who understand (act wisely),
Who [truly] seek after God, [longing for His wisdom and guidance].

They have all turned aside, together they have become corrupt;
There is no one who does good, not even one. Psalms 14:2-3

The persistent influence of the world is a reality because Satan, the god of this world, is its driving force (2 Corinthians 4:4). The world is Satan’s medium, through which he broadcasts his propaganda and disinformation. By confusing people about what to believe, he intends to manipulate humanity. Satan’s pitch to mankind is aimed directly at exciting human nature’s self-indulgent cravings, and he is very good at all he does through being the father of lies all worldly people believe, love, follow and worship in their own unknown ways.

https://dochub.com/timesoftrouble/pV1EQb/the-deceptions-of-satan-the-devil

Due to this Satanic effort, even though we are converted, we are apt to become misinformed, lackadaisical, disinterested, and discouraged. We must be aware of it and absolutely resist it. The apostles’ advice about avoiding intimacy with the world is a form of the proverb, “Evil company corrupts good habits” (1 Corinthians 15:33). Friendship with the world corrupts, and sadly my brothers and sisters worldwide, has not selfish ways made all friends with this world?

My wife and I have had a hard time ever since we met in 2007. Me, an American with age and no work in the Philippines, my wife with physical difficulties, we just have no money, and even no more rice. Any help at all would come as a blessing

THE MYSTERY OF YEHOVAH: THOSE PREDESTINED-WHY HUMAN SUFFERING-AND SALVATION FOR ALL

Note that all the categories and tags I use are deeply covered when any with open minds seeking spiritual truth from not of this world investigates my links at the end of this informative article, and shares what all need to know.

Who can see all things? Who feels they know all required? Who feels secure? How many know that absolutely nothing about them being thoughts, ways, actions, and hearts intent can be hid from Yehovah Elohim?

Excellent read on God’s sacred name unknown to most; https://dochub.com/timesoftrouble/ZOXmRb/the-true-pronunciation-of-the-sacred-name

And that includes this world of false brethren, sisters, shepherds, evangelist, singers, Bible study teachers, and every religious title on this earth being believers that talk their Christian talk, but never walk their commanded walk while living as lovers of themselves accompanied with extreme selfishness I have experienced this entire past decade; and all reasons why have been spiritually made known for any being drawn by the words in John 6:44, and all that you shall read in this lengthy writing on truth for these end times.

Welcome to Christian love and obedience within a deceived and misled human race.

What is Yehovah really trying to accomplish here on earth?  This is a question that religious men and women have pondered since the dawn of creation.  Paul tells us that the mystery of Yehovah Elohim was hidden throughout all the ages and generations from the time of creation until the appearance of the Messiah.  After his first coming, however, the heavenly Father revealed this mystery to His saints (Col. 1:26).  Yet how well do those who profess to have accepted Yeshua the Messiah really understand Yehovah Elohim mysterious plan?

Most Christian denominations believe that they have a good grasp of the mystery of YHVH the Father.  They think He is saving those who, of their own free will, accept the sacrifice of His son Yeshua.  Conversely, they believe that Elohim will condemn and eternally punish those who do not accept that sacrifice (either because of conscious rejection or ignorance).

Under that basic premise, most of Christianity has implicitly decided that Yehovah is going to end up saving just a minority of humanity, since even the most optimistic assessment can only conclude that most people throughout history have NOT accepted the saving sacrifice of Yeshua.  Yet does this understanding agree with what Elohim says He will do in His Word?  In this writing we will examine what the Bible truly teaches about this misunderstood mystery of YHVH God that even now so few really comprehend.

In order to lay out the mystery of our creator, we must first understand some things about Yehovah that the Father reveals of Himself through telling us quite a bit about Himself and His abilities in the Bible.

Yehovah Elohim the Father – Omnipresent, Omniscient and Omnipotent

These three impressive sounding words describe God’s presence, knowledge, and power, which are concepts found often in the Scriptures.  We will examine each in turn:

OMNIPRESENCE

The term “omnipresent” refers to the ability to be present everywhere at the same time.  The Scriptures tell us that God the Father, through His Holy Spirit, maintains a presence in all of His creation:

Note that most all Bible versions have done away with Yehovah and Yeshua being their proper personal names — and through these links below, much can be learned for the reason why.

https://dochub.com/timesoftrouble/ZOXmRb/the-true-pronunciation-of-the-sacred-name

https://dochub.com/timesoftrouble/NnWnPv/authority-of-the-bible-as-written-autographs

https://dochub.com/timesoftrouble/gv1vr3/flaws-in-all-translations-of-the-bible

PSALM 139:7 Where shall I go from Your Spirit?  Or where shall I flee from Your presence?  8 If I ascend to heaven, You are there!  If I make my bed in Sheol, You are there!  9 If I take the wings of the morning and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, 10 even there Your hand shall lead me, and Your right hand shall hold me.  11 If I say, “Surely the darkness shall cover me, and the light about me be night,” 12 even the darkness is not dark to You; the night is bright as the day, for darkness is as light with You. (ESV)

JEREMIAH 23:23 “Am I only a God nearby,” declares the LORD, “and not a God far away?  24Can anyone hide in secret places so that I cannot see him?” declares the LORD.  “Do not I fill heaven and earth?” declares the LORD. (NIV)

PROVERBS 5:21 For a man’s ways are in full view of the LORD, and He examines all his paths. (NIV)

PROVERBS 15:3 The eyes of the LORD are in every place, keeping watch on the evil and the good. (ESV)

OMNISCIENCE

To be “omniscient” means that one has total and complete knowledge of all things.  What does the Bible tell us about God the Father’s knowledge?

ISAIAH 46:9 Remember the former things, those of long ago; I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like Me.  10 I make known the end from the beginning, from ancient times, what is still to come.  I say:  My purpose will stand, and I will do all that I please. (NIV)

ISAIAH 48:3 I foretold the former things long ago, my mouth announced them and I made them known; then suddenly I acted, and they came to pass. (NIV)

ISAIAH 42:9 Behold, the former things have come to pass, and new things I now declare; before they spring forth I tell you of them.” (ESV)

PSALM 139:1 For the director of music. Of David.  A psalm.  O LORD, You have searched me and You know me.  2 You know when I sit and when I rise; You perceive my thoughts from afar.  3 You discern my going out and my lying down; You are familiar with all my ways.  4 Before a word is on my tongue You know it completely, O LORD.  5 You hem me in — behind and before; You have laid Your hand upon me.  6 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too lofty for me to attain. (NIV)

LUKE 12:6 “Are not five sparrows sold for two small coins?  Yet not one of them has escaped the notice of God.  7 Even the hairs of your head have all been counted.  Do not be afraid.  You are worth more than many sparrows.” (NAB)

MATTHEW 24:30 “Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.  31 And he will send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they will gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other. . . .  36 But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but my Father only.” (NKJV)

These Scriptures show that God knows all things, and that He often foretells the future to us through His prophets.  But we are told even more here; God does not just make known future events, but He actively works to carry out His plan.  It’s not simply a case of the heavenly Father being able to see the future.  God specifically tells us that He takes action to make prophesied events occur.

OMNIPOTENCE

The term “omnipotence” means having power over all things.  Let’s see what the Scriptures tell us about God the Father’s power:

ISAIAH 44:24 Thus says the LORD, your Redeemer, and the one who formed you from the womb, “I, the LORD, am the maker of all things, stretching out the heavens by Myself and spreading out the earth all alone,” (NASU)

JEREMIAH 10:12 But God made the earth by His power; He founded the world by His wisdom and stretched out the heavens by His understanding. (NIV)

JEREMIAH 27:5 “With My great power and outstretched arm I made the earth and its people and the animals that are on it, and I give it to anyone I please.” (NIV)

JEREMIAH 32:17 Ah Lord GOD!  It is You who made the heavens and the earth by Your great power and by Your outstretched arm!  Nothing is too hard for You. (NRSV)

JEREMIAH 51:15 “He made the earth by His power; He founded the world by His wisdom and stretched out the heavens by His understanding.” (NIV)

ISAIAH 40:25 “Who will you compare Me to, or who is My equal?” asks the Holy One.  26 Look up and see:  Who created these?  He brings out the starry host by number; He calls all of them by name.  Because of His great power and strength, not one of them is missing. (CSB)

JOB 36:22 See, God is beyond reach in His power; who governs like Him? (JPS Tanakh)

God’s power is so great that He created the entire vast universe using it.  The power of God is also manifested in His ability to design a plan and ensure that it is carried out to achieve His will and purpose:

ISAIAH 14:24 The LORD of hosts has sworn:  As I have designed, so shall it be; and as I have planned, so shall it come to pass: (NRSV)

ISAIAH 14:27 The LORD of hosts has planned; who can thwart Him?  His hand is stretched out; who can turn it back? (NAB)

ISAIAH 43:13 “Even from eternity I am He, and there is none who can deliver out of My hand;I act and who can reverse it?” (NASU)

ISAIAH 46:10 I foretell the end from the beginning, and from the start, things that had not occurred.  I say: My plan shall be fulfilled; I will do all I have purposed. (JPS Tanakh)

LAMENTATIONS 3:37 Who can speak and have it happen if the Lord has not decreed it? (NIV)

II CHRONICLES 20:6 [King Jehoshaphat] said: “O LORD, God of our fathers, are You not the God who is in heaven?  You rule over all the kingdoms of the nations.  Power and might are in Your hand, and no one can withstand You.” (NIV)

Yehovah’s power is such that whatever He has decided to do, that is what will be done.  YHVH tells us that He has designed a plan that will be implemented because no one (not man nor angel) has the power to thwart or withstand His purpose.

If YHVH truly is all powerful, and if He has a definite plan for mankind, then nothing happens outside the scope of that plan.  Logically this means that He is the author of everything that happens, both good and bad.  Numerous Scriptures confirm this to be the case:

ISAIAH 45:7 I form the light, and create darkness:  I make peace, and create evil:  I the LORD do all these things. (RWB)

LAMENTATIONS 3:38 Is it not from the mouth of the Most High that good and evil come? (NIV)

ECCLESIASTES 7:13 Consider what God has done:  Who can straighten what He has made crooked?  14 When times are good, be happy; but when times are bad, consider:  God has made the one as well as the other.  Therefore, a man cannot discover anything about his future. (NIV)

DEUTERONOMY 32:39 “See now that I, I am He, and there is no God besides Me; it is I who put to death and give life.  I have wounded and it is I who heal, and there is no one who can deliver from My hand.” (NASU)

I SAMUEL 2:6 The LORD both kills and gives life; He brings down to the grave and raises up. (NET)

JOB 5:18 For He wounds, but He also binds up; He injures, but His hands also heal. (NIV)

HOSEA 6:1 “Come, let us return to the LORD.  He has torn us to pieces but He will heal us; He has injured us but He will bind up our wounds.” (NIV)

Because He is all powerful, Elohim is the source of everything that happens, both good and bad.  The Scriptures show that He is the One who wounds and kills, in addition to being the One who heals and makes alive.  As the Almighty Creator and Supreme Power in the entire universe should, God the Father takes complete responsibility for all things in this world, evil as well as good.

Yet very few believe Elohim when He claims to be the source of evil.  They refuse to accept the very words of Elohim recorded in the Bible and instead prefer to believe in a different Elohim being there are many Elohim meaning God’s, thus choosing one of their own devising.  The Elohim of most Christians isn’t the source of the evil in the world.  Instead, they believe Elohim simply allows His creation to choose evil because He has given them the free will to do so.

Many cite the first half of Habakkuk 1:13 in support of their contention that YHVH, far from being the creator of evil, cannot even so much as look upon it:

HABAKKUK 1:13 Your eyes are too pure to look on evil; you cannot tolerate wrong. . . . (NIV)

“There!  The Bible says it, so I believe it!” proclaim those who hold this view.  But if this is really the point the prophet is making here, then he is contradicting the scriptural wisdom of King Solomon (Pro. 15:3).  Since the Messiah told us that the Scriptures cannot be broken (John 10:35), let’s look at the context of the entire first chapter of Habakkuk to understand what he is really saying about God.

Habakkuk 1:2-4 records the prophet’s cries to YHVH regarding the sin and violence that were rampant within Judah during the reign of the latter kings.  In Habakkuk 1:5-11, God reveals to him that He is going to raise up the Babylonians against Judah to punish them for their sins.  This in turn causes Habakkuk to wonder why God would use a people more violent and wicked than Judah to punish His chosen ones:

HABAKKUK 1:12 Are You not from eternity, Yahweh my God?  My Holy One, You will not die. LORD, You appointed them to execute judgment; my Rock, You destined them to punish us.  13 Your eyes are too pure to look on evil, and You cannot tolerate wrongdoing.  So why do You tolerate those who are treacherous?  Why are You silent while one who is wicked swallows up one who is more righteous than himself?  14 You have made mankind like the fish of the sea, like marine creatures that have no ruler.  15 The Chaldeans pull them all up with a hook, catch them in their dragnet, and gather them in their fishing net; that is why they are glad and rejoice.  16 That is why they sacrifice to their dragnet and burn incense to their fishing net, for by these things their portion is rich and their food plentiful.  17 Will they therefore empty their net and continually slaughter nations without mercy? (CSB)

In reality, we see that the words of Habakkuk about YHVH prove the exact opposite point from what most understand from the first half of verse 13.  Even though Judah’s sins were grievous, Habakkuk was appalled at God’s solution after He showed him how He was going to deal with them.  Habakkuk wondered how YHVH could choose the treacherous, vicious, arrogant Babylonians (i.e., Chaldeans) to punish His people.  Although he realized that the Jews needed to be corrected, Habakkuk could not understand YHVH’s choice of people to serve as His instrument of punishment.  So Habakkuk’s point really was, “YHVH, I know You hate evil, yet You are going to choose a people even more wicked than we are to punish us.  WHY?”

YHVH has and continues to make use of various (and often evil) proxies to carry out His will.  The Heavenly Father uses fallen angels such as Satan (Job 1:6-12; 2:1-7) and the unnamed spirit who enticed King Ahab to his death through deception (I Kings 22:19-23; II Chr. 18:18-22), pagan prophets such as Balaam (Num. 22:5-24:25), and despotic men such as Babylonian king Nebuchadnezzar (Jer. 25:9; 27:6; 43:10) and Persian king Cyrus (Isa. 44:28; 45:1-4; II Chr. 36:22:23; Ezra 1:1-4) to accomplish His will.  Despite what men and nations plot in their own minds to do, it is the will of God that is ultimately done:

PSALM 33:10 The LORD foils the plans of the nations; He thwarts the purposes of the peoples.  11 But the plans of the LORD stand firm forever, the purposes of His heart through all generations. (NIV)

Because YHVH is using His creation to complete His plan, it is often incorrectly assumed that the Father is simply doing His best to rescue a plan gone horribly wrong.  For instance, many believe that a powerful angel now called Satan (the Hebrew word for “adversary”) rebelled and became the archenemy of YHVH at some point in the distant past.  They believe that this Adversary almost succeeded in derailing YHVH’s plan to bring many human sons into His family (Luke 3:38) by tempting Adam and Eve into disobeying YHVH Elohim.

However (as this line of thought goes), the heavenly Father was able to salvage His plan for humanity by sending His Son Yeshua to the earth to provide a means for humanity to be forgiven and saved from the sin and death that entered the world through Adam’s choice (Rom. 5:12).  It appears that although the devil and his angels will ultimately be defeated, first they will succeed in dragging down most of humanity into the fiery pit of hell with them (Matt. 25:41; Rev. 14:9-11; 20:10).

Yet this imaginary scenario is absolutely contradicted by the Scriptures, which show that the sacrifice of Yeshua for sin was part of Yehovah the Father’s plan from the very beginning:

1 PETER 1:18 You know that you were ransomed from the futile ways inherited from your ancestors, not with perishable things like silver or gold, 19 but with the precious blood of Christ, like that of a lamb without defect or blemish.  20 He was destined before the foundation of the world, but was revealed at the end of the ages for your sake. (NRSV)

REVELATION 13:8 All inhabitants of the earth will worship the beast — all whose names have not been written in the Book of Life belonging to the Lamb that was slain from the creation of the world. (NIV)

II TIMOTHY 1:8 . . . God, 9 who saved us and called us to a holy calling, not because of our works but because of His own purpose and grace, which He gave us in Christ Jesus before the ages began, (ESV)

ACTS 2:22 “Men of Israel, listen to these words:  Jesus the Nazarene, a man clearly attested to you by God with powerful deeds, wonders, and miraculous signs that God performed among you through him, just as you yourselves know — 23 this man, who was handed over by the predetermined plan and foreknowledge of God, you executed by nailing him to a cross at the hands of Gentiles.” (NET)

ISAIAH 53:10 Yet it was the LORD’s will to crush him and cause him to suffer, and though the LORD makes his life a guilt offering, he will see his offspring and prolong his days, and the will of the LORD will prosper in his hand. (NIV)

YHVH did NOT have to improvise because the attack of Satan disrupted His original plan.  The Messiah’s sacrifice for mankind’s salvation was not a revision or addition to the Heavenly Father’s initial blueprint.  It was the focal point of the plan of Elohim even BEFORE the creation.

To believe that YHVH had to change or modify His plan in any respect is to believe that it was initially imperfect.  How could an omnipresent, omniscient and omnipotent God have designed a flawed plan that required revision to make it work?  The simple answer is that a perfect God would not, indeed could not, have drafted an imperfect plan.  Consequently, the design we now see unfolding must be EXACTLY what YHVH intended from the very beginning!

Is “All” Too Lofty A Goal For YHVH?

If taken at face value, the Bible convincingly shows that YHVH the Father is all powerful and that He fully intends to bring His plan to a successful conclusion, despite the best efforts of those in the physical and spiritual realms.  Therefore, what we see taking place in the world cannot be YHVH scrambling to make the best of a bad situation, but rather YHVH’s original plan unfolding.  But, as strange as it seems when viewed logically in the light of Scripture, this obvious conclusion that YHVH the Father is in total control of all things is not acknowledged by most who profess to worship Him.

The reason most have concluded that YHVH is NOT in absolute control is because they have accepted the idea that He has given His creation “free will.”  Even if the Eternal Father wants to save all of mankind (I Tim. 2:4), many believe that He can’t because they have been taught that YHVH God will not force anyone to be saved against their will.  Effectively, the common belief is that YHVH has ceded His sovereignty to His creation.  Therefore, the creation will determine the outcome of the divine plan, not Yehovah Himself.

The Father may not want anyone to perish but everyone to come to repentance (II Pet. 3:9), but according to the prevailing view, YHVH will NOT get what He desires.  Because it is thought that He has given man the “free will” to choose life or death, some will choose NOT to be saved.  In this warped scenario, the choices of mortal men are allowed to override the outcome desired by the immortal YHVH Elohim.

Yet does this understanding square with what the Bible says?  Let’s see what the Scriptures teach about YHVH’s plan for ALL mankind:

JOHN 12:32 “And I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw [helkuso] ALL people to myself.” (NRSV)

In this statement, Messiah Yeshua gives us a glimpse into what YHVH planned to accomplish through the sacrifice of His Son.  It’s clear from the next verse (John 12:33) that the phrase “lifted up” was a reference to Yeshua’s impending crucifixion.  The Messiah plainly understood that his sacrificial death was a necessary part of YHVH’s plan which would eventually lead to ALL mankind accepting him as their Lord (“Master”).  Paul expands on the words of Yeshua to confirm the end result of his atoning death:

PHILIPPIANS 2:8 He humbled himself, by becoming obedient to the point of death — even death on a cross!  9 As a result God exalted him and gave him the name that is above every name, 10 so that at the name of Jesus EVERY knee will bow — in heaven and on earth and under the earth — 11 and EVERY tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father. (NET)

Yeshua’s ability to put aside his own desires and do the will of the Father resulted in YHVH exalting him above all things except Himself (I Cor. 15:27).  In the end, the entire creation will bow to Yeshua and confess that he is Lord.  This outcome will bring glory to YHVH the Father, because it will signal the successful completion of this phase of His plan.

TITUS 2:11 For the grace of God has appeared for the salvation of ALL men, (RSV)

Paul tells Titus that YHVH’s unmerited favor, which was manifested in the appearance of Messiah Yeshua, will ultimately lead to the salvation of all mankind.

I TIMOTHY 2:3 . . . God our Saviour, 4 who will have ALL men to be saved, and to come to the knowledge of the truth. (DRA)

In his first letter to Timothy, Paul states that YHVH will have all of humanity come to a knowledge of the truth and be saved.  He doesn’t say how or when this will happen, but it is communicated as a certainty.  Because this statement is so definitive, many modern translations try to water it down by rendering it as “YHVH, who desires all men to be saved.”  The implication of translating it this way is that YHVH really does WANT to save everyone, but for some reason He won’t be able to accomplish that goal.

Since we have already seen from the Scriptures that YHVH’s will and purpose cannot be thwarted, this slight change in rendering does nothing to invalidate the underlying sentiment of Paul’s statement.  If the omnipotent YHVH truly desires all men to be saved, there is nothing in this universe that can stop that outcome from happening.  Therefore, we are left to decide whether we believe YHVH is powerful enough to accomplish His will.  Unfortunately, many have believed Satan’s deception that He ultimately will not be able to achieve this desire.

I CORINTHIANS 15:22 For just as in Adam ALL die, so also in Christ ALL will be made alive.  23 But each in his own order . . . (CSB)

ROMANS 5:18 Therefore just as one man’s trespass led to condemnation for ALL, so one man’s act of righteousness leads to justification and life for ALL. (NRSV)

We know that everyone since Adam has died because of sin (Rom. 5:12).  The only human never to have sinned was Yeshua the Messiah (II Cor. 5:21; Heb. 4:15; I John 3:5), and sin still caused his death because he had to die for the sins of the world (I John 2:2).  So when Paul contrasts the death that was brought by Adam with the life that will be brought by Messiah, he has to be talking about the entirety of humanity.  “All” humans have been condemned to death because of Adam’s disobedience; for Paul’s comparison to be true, the same “all” must eventually be justified and made alive by Messiah’s act of righteousness.

II PETER 3:9 The Lord is not slow in keeping His promise, as some people think of slowness; on the contrary, He is patient with you; for it is not His purpose that anyone should be destroyed, but that EVERYONE should turn from his sins. (CJB)

If it truly is NOT YHVH’s purpose to destroy anyone, but rather to see all mankind repent, how can anyone or anything prevent that from happening?  As we are told in the Scriptures, the purpose within YHVH‘s heart will stand firm forever (Psa. 33:11) and His plan will be fulfilled (Isa. 46:10).

I TIMOTHY 4:10 . . . We have put our hope in the living God, who is the Savior of ALL men, and especially of those who believe. (NIV)

Paul received his insights into the mystery of YHVH by revelation from the glorified Messiah himself (Gal. 1:11-12; Eph. 3:3).  He probably understood what Elohim was accomplishing better than anyone else, before or since.  Throughout his letters, Paul casually drops theological bombshells regarding universal salvation.  Here in his first letter to Timothy, he plainly states that Elohim will save all mankind, starting specifically with believers in Yeshua the Messiah.  Once Paul’s universalist view is recognized for what it truly is, it’s interesting to note how often he states or alludes to the salvation of all mankind in his letters.

Is Our Destiny Preordained By God?

Another controversial matter that Paul addresses in several places is the topic of predestination.  In fact, his letter to the Ephesian congregation contains a considerable exposition on this concept and how it ties in to universalism:

EPHESIANS 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places, 4 even as He chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before Him. In love 5 He predestined us for adoption as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of His will, 6 to the praise of His glorious grace, with which He has blessed us in the Beloved. (ESV)

Paul gets right to the heart of his message quickly.  In verse 4, he tells the believers in Ephesus that Elohim the Father “chose us” (each believer) to be blessed in Messiah Yeshua “before the foundation of the world.”  Many claim that this choosing refers to the church as a whole, and not to every individual believer.  This view, however, is based more on the natural human aversion to the concept of predestination than on the actual teaching of Paul.

In verse 5, Paul tells the Ephesians that in love Elohim predestined believers for adoption as His sons through Messiah Yeshua.  He did this “according to the pleasure of His will,” as the New English Translation renders the final part of verse 5.  In other words, the heavenly Father did this because it’s what He wanted to do.  It’s the way Yehovah Elohim wrongly known as God decided to achieve His goal of ultimately bringing all mankind into His family.

As Paul explains elsewhere, God does not choose us because of anything we have done or will do in the future (II Tim. 1:9; Rom. 9:11).  Instead, each of us was chosen because God the Father showed us favor.  The Greek root word translated “grace” in verse 6 is charis.  Although it is usually rendered “grace” in the New Testament, it literally means to bestow undeserved “favor” on someone.  YHVH predestined each one who is called and chosen in this age to the exclusion of all others.  When He did this before time as we know it began, He was showing us unmerited favor, as Paul told Timothy:

II TIMOTHY 1:8 . . . God, 9 who has saved us and called us to a holy life — not because of anything we have done but because of His own purpose and grace.  This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time, (NIV)

Paul’s comments elevating YHVH’s grace above our works must be viewed in the light of his understanding of predestination.  Paul never denigrated YHVH’s Law (Rom. 7:16; Gal. 3:21) or a believer’s observance of it (Rom. 3:31; I Cor. 7:19).  Rather, he showed that YHVH’s calling does not depend on man’s desire or effort, but solely on the Father’s mercy (Rom. 9:16).  Yeshua himself stated this to the Jews of his day:

JOHN 6:44 “No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws [helkuse]him.  And I will raise him up on the last day.” (ESV)

JOHN 6:63 “It is the Spirit who gives life, the flesh is no help.  The words I have spoken to you are Spirit and life, 64 yet some among you do not trust.”  (For Yeshua knew from the outset which ones would not trust him, also which one would betray him.)  65 “This,” he said, “is why I told you that no one can come to me unless the Father has made it possible for him.” (CJB)

Those who truly come to the Messiah do not simply decide for themselves one day to do so.  If we believe the words of Yeshua, only those YHVH specifically “draws” come to him.  The word translated “draws” in John 6:44 is from the Greek root helko.  Here is what Bauer, Gingrich, Arndt, and Danker (BGAD) have to say about the literal meaning of this word:

To move an object from one area to another in a pulling motion, draw, with implication that the object being moved is incapable of propelling itself or in the case of pers[ons] is unwilling to do so voluntarily, in either case with implication of exertion on the part of the mover. (Greek-English Lexicon of the New Testament and Other Early Christian Literature, 3rd edition)

Interestingly, helkuso (a form of the same Greek root word found in John 6:44) is used in Yeshua’s statement that his sacrificial death would eventually “draw” all people to Him (John 12:32).  Again, the implication is that these people will not come voluntarily, but will come because of the action of YHVH Elohim.

EPHESIANS 1:7 In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace, 8 which He lavished upon us, in all wisdom and insight 9 making known to us the mystery of His will, according to His purpose, which He set forth in Christ 10 as a plan for the fullness of time, to unite ALL things in him, things in heaven and things on earth. (ESV)

Paul plainly tells us here that the mystery of YHVH’s will is that He is uniting all things in heaven and earth to Himself through His Son, Yeshua.  Every facet of the Father’s plan is aimed at achieving the goal of reconciling all things back to Himself, as Paul also stated in his second letter to the Corinthians:

II CORINTHIANS 5:18 All this is from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christand gave us the ministry of reconciliation:  19 that God was reconciling the world to Himself in Christ, not counting men’s sins against them.  And He has committed to us the message of reconciliation. (NIV)

YHVH’s goal is for us to develop His godly character and become spiritually complete; He wants His children to “grow up” to become just like Him (Matt. 5:48).  The way we become like Him is through the work of His Holy Spirit in us during the process of reconciliation.  YHVH is NOT working with everyone at this time; instead, He is only calling a few in this age (John 6:44) who were predestined before the beginning of time to fulfill God’s purpose:

EPHESIANS 1:11 In him we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to the purpose of Him who works all things according to the counsel of His will, 12 so that we who were the first to hope in Christ might be to the praise of his glory.  13 In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, 14 who is the guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire possession of it, to the praise of his glory. (ESV)

In the 2nd chapter of Ephesians, Paul specifically states that our predestined salvation is not based on our works.  Rather, the favor Yehovah shows us is a gift:

EPHESIANS 2:4 But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which He loved us, 5 even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ — bygrace you have been saved — 6 and raised us up with him and seated us with Him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, 7 so that in the coming ages He might show the immeasurable riches of His grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.  8 For by grace you have been saved through faith.  And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, 9 not a result of works, so that no one may boast.  10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them. (ESV)

Our salvation does not give us cause to boast.  We are YHVH’s handiwork, His creation.  He has made us what we are; the good works we do were preordained before the beginning of time.  Therefore, we can take no credit for doing them.  We earn NONE of the good things YHVH does for us; they are a divine gift:

JAMES 1:17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change. (ESV)

In his letter to Titus, Paul reiterates that our good works (which he urges believers to maintain) do not save us:

TITUS 3:4 But when the kindness and the love of God our Savior toward man appeared, 5 not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit, 6 whom He poured out on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior, 7 that having been justified by Hisgrace we should become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.  8 This is a faithful saying, and these things I want you to affirm constantly, that those who have believed in God should be careful to maintain good works.  These things are good and profitable to men. (NKJV)

Continuing in his letter to the Ephesians, Paul spells out how the mystery of God applied to those Gentiles in Ephesus:

EPHESIANS 3:1 This is the reason that I Paul am a prisoner for Christ Jesus for the sake of you Gentiles — 2 for surely you have already heard of the commission of God’s grace that was given me for you, 3 and how the mystery was made known to me by revelation, as I wrote above in a few words, 4 a reading of which will enable you to perceive my understanding of the mystery of Christ.  5 In former generations this mystery was not made known to humankind, as it has now been revealed to his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit:  6 that is, the Gentiles have become fellow heirs, members of the same body, and sharers in the promise in Christ Jesus through the gospel. (ESV)

Paul was a very learned man, having studied extensively at the feet of Gamaliel the Elder (Acts 22:3; cf. 5:34), one of the brightest Jewish sages of his day.  However, he takes no credit for having figured out for himself the mystery of Elohim.  Instead, Paul clearly states that this mystery (which had been hidden from all former generations) was made known to him by revelation from the Messiah Yeshua (Acts 26:15-18; Gal. 1:11-12).  This mystery was that just as the remnant of YHVH’s chosen people (the Jews) were destined for salvation, so were the rest of the people from all the nations (“the Gentiles”).

Paul addresses this universal salvation of all mankind in his letter to the Roman assembly:

ROMANS 11:25 Lest you be wise in your own sight, I want you to understand this mystery, brothers:  A partial hardening has come upon Israel, until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in.  26 And in this way all Israel will be saved, as it is written, “The Deliverer will come from Zion, he will banish ungodliness from Jacob”; 27 “and this will be my covenant with them when I take away their sins.”  28 As regards the gospel, they are enemies of God for your sake.  But as regards election, they are beloved for the sake of their forefathers.  29 For the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable.  30 For just as you were at one time disobedient to God but now have received mercy because of their disobedience, 31 so they too have now been disobedient in order that by the mercy shown to you they also may now receive mercy.  32 For God has consigned [sunekleisen] ALL to disobedience, that he may have mercy on ALL.  33 Oh, the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God!  How unsearchable are his judgments and how inscrutable his ways!  34 “For who has known the mind of the Lord, or who has been His counselor?”  35 “Or who has given a gift to Him that he might be repaid?”  36 For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things.  To Him be glory forever.  Amen. (ESV)

In this chapter, Paul addresses how the salvation of all Israel will be achieved.  He clearly states that the unbelieving Jews, those who don’t accept Yeshua because YHVH Himself blinded them (Rom. 11:7-10), are still loved by Him.  But he goes on to show that the salvation of all Israel is not the final goal of YHVH’s plan.  In verse 32 he uses a form of the Greek root word sugkleio (which literally means to “hem in,” “enclose” or “imprison”) to describe what YHVH has done to all men.

Specifically, Paul tells us that YHVH has imprisoned ALL mankind (both Jew and Gentile) in disobedience – less those predestined and drawn out of this world as written in John 15:19.

Why would YHVH do this?  Paul tells us the reason is so that in the end He might have mercy on all.  This aspect of YHVH’s plan is so awesome to Paul that he launches into a praise of YHVH’s unsearchable and unknowable ways, which are beyond man’s ability to understand.  To paraphrase Paul, everything is FROM YHVH, THROUGH YHVH, and TO YHVH.  As humans, we can take credit for nothing.

EPHESIANS 3:7 Of this gospel I have become a servant according to the gift of God’s gracethat was given me by the working of His power.  8 Although I am the very least of all the saints, this grace was given to me to bring to the Gentiles the news of the boundless riches of Christ, 9 and to make everyone see what is the plan of the mystery hidden for ages in Godwho created all things; 10 so that through the church the wisdom of God in its rich variety might now be made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly places.  11 This was in accordance with the eternal purpose that He has carried out in Christ Jesus our Lord, 12 in whom we have access to God in boldness and confidence through faith in him. (ESV)

Here Paul says that even though he is the least of those whom YHVH has called (cf. I Tim. 1:13; I Cor. 15:9), through the gift of YHVH’s favor he was chosen to bring this good news about the mystery of Elohim to the people of the nations.  This is according to YHVH’s age-lasting purpose, which is being accomplished through the Lord Yeshua the Messiah.

EPHESIANS 3:18 I pray that you may have the power to comprehend, with all the saints, what is the breadth and length and height and depth, 19 and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, so that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.  20 Now to Him who by the power at work within us is able to accomplish abundantly far more than all we can ask or imagine, 21 to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever.  Amen. (NRSV)

Paul realized that YHVH’s mysterious plan was very hard for man to grasp.  Here he prays that YHVH would help the saints understand the fullness (“breadth, length, height and depth”) of His plan.  He finishes this section of his letter by stating that the power of Yehovah Elohim (i.e., the Holy Spirit) working within us is able to accomplish much more than we can request or even understand.

Paul also speaks of predestination in his letter to the Romans:

ROMANS 8:28 And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to His purpose.  29 For those whom He foreknew He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, in order that he might be the firstborn among many brothers.  30 And those whom He predestined He also called, and those whom He called He also justified, and those whom He justified He also glorified. (ESV)

Messiah Yeshua is the focal point of the Father’s plan, the firstborn of many sons of God to come.  Paul here states that for those who love God, everything that happens eventually works out for their benefit.  YHVH predestined those who are being called by Him to be justified in Messiah.  Those He justified by the Messiah’s sacrifice will also be glorified and used to further His plan.

When the topic of predestination is understood properly, we have to realize that nothing happens apart from YHVH’s plan Even though we occasionally go through painful trials, these are ultimately for our good and will help us to reach spiritual maturity, as James explains:

JAMES 1:2 Consider it a great joy, my brothers, whenever you experience various trials, 3 knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance.  4 But endurance must do its complete work, so that you may be mature and complete, lacking nothing. (CSB)

In the 9th chapter of Romans, Paul used the example of Jacob and Esau to illustrate how YHVH has predestined those He calls:

ROMANS 9:10 And even more to the point is the case of Rivkah; for both her children were conceived in a single act with Yitz’chak, our father; 11 and before they were born, before they had done anything at all, either good or bad (so that God’s plan might remain a matter of His sovereign choice, not dependent on what they did, but on God, who does the calling), 12 it was said to her, “The older will serve the younger.”  13 This accords with where it is written, “Ya’akov I loved, but Esav I hated.” (CJB)

As a good illustration of YHVH’s predestination, Paul cites the example of Jacob and Esau.  He tells us that before their birth, before they had done anything (good or bad), YHVH Elohim decided to use Jacob in His plan, but to reject Esau.  Paul clearly states that the choice YHVH made was based on Him being the supreme ruler of the universe, not on anything Jacob or Esau did.  Some try and make this Scripture mean that Yehovah foresaw what each of the twins WOULD do later in their lives and then chose Jacob over Esau based on that foreknowledge.  But that interpretation specifically denies the point Paul is making here about Elohim’s absolute authority, not foreknowledge, being the basis for the selection.

Human nature causes most people confronted with this scenario to assert that YHVH was unfair to Esau.  Paul anticipated this objection and addressed it next:

ROMANS 9:14 What then shall we say?  Is God unjust?  Not at all!  15 For He says to Moses, “I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion.”  16 It does not, therefore, depend on man’s desire or effort, but on God’s mercy.  17 For the Scripture says to Pharaoh:  “I raised you up for this very purpose, that I might display My power in you and that My name might be proclaimed in all the earth.”  18 Therefore God has mercy on whom He wants to have mercy, and He hardens whom He wants to harden. (NIV)

No, YHVH is not unjust, according to Paul.  The reason is because YHVH’s plan is not based on what a man wants or what a man does, but rather on YHVH’s mercy.  YHVH used Pharaoh for a specific purpose, so that the whole world might understand His awesome power.  YHVH had mercy on the children of Israel, but He hardened Pharaoh’s heart, bringing destruction upon the land of Egypt.  All of these events were orchestrated by YHVH the Father to further His plan and purpose for mankind.

Again, Paul expects that what he has just said will elicit hostile questions from his readers.  “If YHVH hardens my heart and makes me stand in opposition to His will (just as He did with Pharaoh), why does He still punish me?  How am I truly to blame?  Who can withstand YHVH’s purpose?”

ROMANS 9:19 One of you will say to me:  “Then why does God still blame us?  For who resists His will?”  20 But who are you, O man, to talk back to God?  “Shall what is formed say to Him who formed it, ‘Why did You make me like this?'”  21 Does not the potter have the right to make out of the same lump of clay some pottery for noble purposes and some for common use?  22 What if God, choosing to show His wrath and make His power known, bore with great patience the objects of His wrath — prepared for destruction?  23 What if He did this to make the riches of His glory known to the objects of His mercy, whom He prepared in advance for glory — 24 even us, whom He also called, not only from the Jews but also from the Gentiles? (NIV)

Paul answers these questions simply.  Since YHVH the Father is the Creator and Ruler of the universe, He can do as He pleases.  Those created have no right to ask the Creator why they are made a certain way.  He shows that YHVH, the Master Potter, has created some vessels for holy use and some for common use (cf. II Tim. 2:20-21).  Paul goes on to state that the common vessels will be broken during the process of YHVH’s plan being carried out to show the holy vessels the riches of God’s glory.

Paul’s response regarding YHVH’s process for accomplishing His plan closely mirrors the Father’s words to Job, when he questioned YHVH Elohim following the occurrence of a series of tragedies in his life.  YHVH allowed Satan to test Job by destroying his children, his material goods (Job 1:13-19), and his health (Job 2:7).  Being a righteous man, Job did not understand why God was putting him through such pain and suffering.

After repeatedly professing his innocence and asking YHVH to prove that He was justified in causing his suffering, YHVH finally answered Job with a series of questions designed to illustrate His magnificence and power (Job 38:1-41:34).  Delineating His awesome acts of creation, YHVH caused Job to see that His power and authority gave the heavenly Father the right to do as He pleased in his life:

JOB 42:1 Then Job answered the Lord:  2 “I know that You can do all things and that no plan of Yours can be ruined.  3 You asked, ‘Who is this that made My purpose unclear by saying things that are not true?’  Surely I spoke of things I did not understand; I talked of things too wonderful for me to know.  4 You said, ‘Listen now, and I will speak.  I will ask you questions, and you must answer Me.’  5 My ears had heard of You before, but now my eyes have seen You.  6 So now I hate myself; I will change my heart and life.  I will sit in the dust and ashes.” (NCV)

If we accept the biblical position that YHVH does have the right to make some human vessels for honor and some for destruction, the question then becomes:  “Will those broken vessels of wrath be cast away forever by God after their use, or will the Master Potter reshape them into holy vessels at some future point?”  By recognizing the scriptural doctrine of universal salvation, we can see that YHVH has committed to eventually remake those common vessels into holy vessels.

PHILIPPIANS 2:12 Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed — not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence — continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, 13 for it is God who works in you to will and to act according to His good purpose. (NIV)

Paul tells us that we are to “work out our salvation with fear and trembling.”  However, he goes on to show that it really isn’t us who does the work, but YHVH.  It is the heavenly Father who causes us to “will” (want to do something) and to “act” on those desires.  This is according to His purpose, which ultimately is for our good.

Paul clearly teaches predestination.  What Calvin, Luther, and others who recognized this teaching missed was that Paul also taught universal salvation.  They did not understand the timing aspect of Paul’s teaching.  Yes, some were predestined to be saved in this age.  However, this did not mean that the rest who are not saved in this age are forever lost.  God will save all mankind, but He will do so in the way and at the time He decides.  Each person will be saved when it is his or her time (I Cor. 15:22).

Predestination – Does the Rest of the Bible Support Paul’s Teaching?

There are very few today who accept the doctrine of predestination.  Most steadfastly assert that humanity has free will, and that YHVH does not limit the will of man, but allows him to exercise that will even to the point that it overrides His own.  But what do the rest of the Scriptures have to say about YHVH’s will and the fulfillment of His purpose?  Let’s examine some passages from the Old Testament to see if this teaching was a new innovation by Paul, or if it had its roots in the Hebrew Scriptures:

JEREMIAH 10:23 You know, O LORD, that man is not master of his way; man’s course is not within his choice, nor is it for him to direct his step. (NAB)

This is a very straightforward and direct statement from Jeremiah.  He clearly states that man does not control his destiny, does not choose his own path or direct his own steps.  The clear implication is that it is Yehovah Elohim who does these things.

PROVERBS 16:9 In his mind a man plans his course, but the LORD directs his steps. (NAB)

The Artscroll Tanach Series is a set of Jewish commentaries on the Hebrew Scriptures from talmudic, midrashic, and rabbinic sources.  Here is what the commentary on Proverbs says about this proverb and its companion statement from Jeremiah:

Like many other verses in Scripture, this verse teaches that man is not in control of his own destiny.  He can only make plans; the ultimate outcome, however, is in the hands of Hashem.  The prophet Jeremiah also proclaims that (Jeremiah 10:23) . . . a man’s path is not his own.  Accordingly, we must learn to place our trust in Hashem and fervently pray that He set us on the path of success so that we may see our plans reach fruition (Meiri). (p. 301, vol. 2,Mishlei / Proverbs)

Similar comments are found elsewhere in the psalms of David, as well as in the proverbs of Solomon:

PSALM 139:16 Your eyes saw my unformed body.  All the days ordained for me were written in Your book before one of them came to be. (NIV)

PSALM 37:23 The steps of a man are established by the LORD, and He delights in his way. (NASU)

PROVERBS 20:24 Man’s steps are ordained by the LORD, how then can man understand his way? (NASU)

The Artscroll Tanach Series commentary on Proverbs ties together the theme of these final two verses:

This oft-quoted verse (similar to Psalms 37:23 . . . By Hashem are a man’s footsteps established) expresses the limited extent of our ability to understand Divine Providence.  Man is a puppet in the hands of Hashem and as such often has no comprehension of the circumstances of his mortal existence.  But this itself can be a source of encouragement, for we trust that whatever our condition, Hashem has our best interests at heart. (p. 408, vol. 2,Mishlei / Proverbs)

Notice how similar this rabbinic view is to that of the apostle Paul, who stated that YHVH causes everything that happens to work together for the good of those who love Him and are called in accordance with His purpose (Rom. 8:28).

PROVERBS 19:21 The human mind may devise many plans, but it is the purpose of the LORD that will be established. (NRSV)

PROVERBS 16:1 A man may arrange his thoughts, but what he says depends on the LORD. (JPS Tanakh)

These two related statements from Solomon indicate that the mind of a man does have some ability to formulate independent thoughts and schemes.  However, when it comes to actions and spoken words to express those thoughts, man is dependent upon YHVH.  There is no such thing as “chance” or “luck”; YHVH ELOHIM is in control of all things:

PROVERBS 16:33 The lot is cast into the lap, but its every decision is from the LORD. (CSB)

Numerous stories from the Old Testament show the hand of YHVH in planning and carrying out His will through the actions of men.  Let’s look at some of them to see how YHVH guided events to fulfill His purpose.

JOSEPH

First, let’s look at the story of Joseph, the favorite son of Jacob by his beloved wife Rachel.  Because of the special treatment that Joseph received from Jacob, the rest of his brothers hated him (Gen. 37:3-4).  Eventually, this hatred caused them to plot to kill Joseph.  Reuben, the oldest son of Jacob, was able to keep the other brothers from slaying him.  However, they did sell Joseph into slavery and deceive his father into believing that he had been killed by a wild animal.

Joseph ended up as a slave in Egypt, but YHVH was with him in everything that he did.  Thirteen years after being betrayed by his brothers, while Joseph was being held unjustly in prison, YHVH gave Pharaoh a prophetic dream that he did not understand.  But YHVH also gave Joseph the ability to accurately interpret that dream for the ruler of Egypt of the famine that He was about to send upon the land (Gen. 41:25, 28).  Because of the wisdom and discernment that Joseph displayed in regard to the dream, Pharaoh elevated him to the second highest position in all the land.  He also placed him in charge of the effort to prepare the land for the famine that was coming after seven years.

When the prophesied famine struck, Jacob heard that there was food in Egypt.  He sent his 10 oldest sons down from Canaan to Egypt to purchase grain.  Joseph immediately knew them when they arrived, but they did not recognize him.  After testing his brothers to see if their hearts had changed since their earlier actions against him, Joseph revealed himself to them.  In doing so, he stated that everything that had happened to him was predestined by God:

GENESIS 45:4 And Joseph said to his brothers, “Please come near to me.”  So they came near.  Then he said:  “I am Joseph your brother, whom you sold into Egypt.  5 But now, do not therefore be grieved or angry with yourselves because you sold me here; for God sent me before you to preserve life.  6 For these two years the famine has been in the land, and there are still five years in which there will be neither plowing nor harvesting.  7 And God sent me before you to preserve a posterity for you in the earth, and to save your lives by a great deliverance.  8 So now it was not you who sent me here, but God; and He has made me a father to Pharaoh, and lord of all his house, and a ruler throughout all the land of Egypt.” (NKJV)

Joseph realized that everything he had suffered was part of the plan of YHVH.  Therefore, he didn’t hold his brothers liable for what happened to him, but rather understood that YHVH the Father was responsible.  This realization was what allowed Joseph to forgive his brothers for their plot against him:

GENESIS 50:18 His brothers then came and threw themselves down before him.  “We are your slaves,” they said.  19 But Joseph said to them, “Don’t be afraid.  Am I in the place of God?  20 You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives.” (NIV)

Although his brothers acted against him out of hatred (motivated in large part by divinely-inspired events such as his dreams), Joseph did not hold them accountable for their actions.  He forgave them because he realized that YHVH accomplished His will through them.  In this, we see that Joseph was a type of the Messiah, who also forgave his brothers the Jews for their persecution and crucifixion of him (Luke 23:34).

The Jews of Yeshua’s day did what they did because YHVH blinded them to His plan (John 12:37-40; Rom. 11:7-10), in order for His atoning sacrifice for mankind to be successfully offered:

ACTS 3:13 “The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, the God of our fathers, has glorified His servant Jesus.  You handed him over to be killed, and you disowned him before Pilate, though he had decided to let him go.  14 You disowned the holy and righteous one and asked that a murderer be released to you.  15 You killed the author of life, but God raised him from the dead.  We are witnesses of this.  16 By faith in the name of Jesus, this man whom you see and know was made strong.  It is Jesus’ name and the faith that comes through him that has given this complete healing to him, as you can all see.  17 Now, brothers, I know that you acted in ignorance, as did your leaders.  18 But this is how God fulfilled what He had foretold through all the prophets, saying that His Christ would suffer.” (NIV)

I CORINTHIANS 2:7 But we speak God’s wisdom in a mystery, the hidden wisdom which God predestined before the ages to our glory; 8 the wisdom which none of the rulers of this age has understood; for if they had understood it they would not have crucified the Lord of glory; (NASU)

By understanding that YHVH ELOHIM is ultimately responsible for all things, it is possible to see why YHVH commanded us to forgive those who oppose, oppress and attack us:

MATTHEW 5:44 “But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, 45 that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.” (NKJV)

To really forgive our enemies, it helps for us to recognize that YHVH’s blinding has caused them to be against us.  They are “vessels of wrath” which YHVH is using to make known to us “the riches of His glory” (Rom. 9:22-23).  This realization of YHVH’s sovereignty and His control of events was why Joseph could truly forgive his brothers of their transgression against him.

PHARAOH

The story of the Pharaoh of the Exodus is of great benefit in understanding how YHVH brings events to pass in order to fulfill His will.  As quoted earlier from the 9th chapter of Romans, Paul clearly stated that YHVH hardened Pharaoh’s heart in order for Him to prove something to the world (Rom. 9:17-18).  Let’s start the story with YEHOVAH’s words to Abram 430 years prior to the Exodus:

GENESIS 15:13 Then the LORD said to Abram, “Know for certain that your offspring will be sojourners in a land that is not theirs and will be servants there, and they will be afflicted for four hundred years.  14 But I will bring judgment on the nation that they serve, and afterward they shall come out with great possessions.” (ESV)

This prophecy from YHVH to Abram specifies an exact time period – 400 years.  According to the cantillation signs in the Hebrew text of Genesis 15:13, the phrase “400 years” refers back to the words, “your descendants will be strangers in a land that is not theirs.”  The years of Abraham’s offspring being strangers in a strange land began with the birth of Isaac, NOT with the Egyptian enslavement.  Therefore the text ought to be understood as follows:  “Know certainly that your descendants will be strangers in a land that is not theirs . . . 400 years.”  It was 400 years from the date of Isaac’s birth until the Exodus, and 430 years (Exo. 12:40-41; Gal. 3:17) from the time of YHVH’s covenant with Abram.

Notice that ELOHIM pronounced a very specific time period for these very specific events.  YHVH didn’t just allow them to happen or foresee them happening.  He directly acted to cause them to happen at a precise point in time.  In his commentary on the Exodus, the Jewish sage Rashi wrote that the covenant of the pieces (Gen. 15:13), the angelic announcement of Isaac’s birth (Gen. 18:10), his actual birth (Gen. 21:2), and the Exodus from Egypt (Exo. 12:41) all took place on exactly “the selfsame day” on the Hebrew calendar:

On the fifteenth of Nisan the ministering angels came to Abraham to announce (it) to him, and on the fifteenth of Nisan Isaac was born, and on the fifteenth of Nisan there was decreed the decree “between the pieces.” (p. 121, vol. II, The Pentateuch and Rashi’s Commentary)

Clearly, the fact that all these events occurred on the same date was not coincidence, but part of the design of YHVH’s plan.  For that plan to be fulfilled precisely as YHVH desired, Pharaoh had to do exactly as YHVH intended.  When Moses first received instructions from the Angel of YHVH from the burning bush, a brief outline of the events that would occur during the Exodus was given to him:

EXODUS 3:16 “Go and gather the elders of Israel together and say to them, ‘The LORD, the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, of Isaac, and of Jacob, has appeared to me, saying, “I have observed you and what has been done to you in Egypt, 17 and I promise that I will bring you up out of the affliction of Egypt to the land of the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Amorites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites, a land flowing with milk and honey.” ‘  18 And they will listen to your voice, and you and the elders of Israel shall go to the king of Egypt and say to him, ‘The LORD, the God of the Hebrews, has met with us; and now, please let us go a three days’ journey into the wilderness, that we may sacrifice to the LORD our God.’  19 But I know that the king of Egypt will not let you go unless compelled by a mighty hand.  20 So I will stretch out My hand and strike Egypt with all the wonders that I will do in it; after that he will let you go.  21 And I will give this people favor in the sight of the Egyptians; and when you go, you shall not go empty, 22 but each woman shall ask of her neighbor, and any woman who lives in her house, for silver and gold jewelry, and for clothing.  You shall put them on your sons and on your daughters.  So you shall plunder the Egyptians.” (ESV)

YHVH ELOHIM later added some additional details about the reaction of Pharaoh to the miracles ELOHIM would grant Moses to perform:

EXODUS 4:21 And the LORD said to Moses, “When you go back to Egypt, see that you do before Pharaoh all the miracles that I have put in your power.  But I will harden his heart, so that he will not let the people go.  22 Then you shall say to Pharaoh, ‘Thus says the LORD, Israel is My firstborn son, 23 and I say to you, “Let My son go that he may serve Me.”  If you refuse to let him go, behold, I will kill your firstborn son.’ ” (CJB)

Here we see the first mention of YHVH hardening the heart of Pharaoh.  For the will of God to be carried out according to His plan in this matter, all 10 plagues (culminating with the death of the firstborn) had to occur.  By hardening his heart, YHVH ensured that Pharaoh didn’t abandon his rebellion before YHVH ELOHIM accomplished His objectives.  He specifically tells Moses His plan shortly thereafter:

EXODUS 7:1 And the LORD said to Moses, “See, I have made you like God to Pharaoh, and your brother Aaron shall be your prophet.  2 You shall speak all that I command you, and your brother Aaron shall tell Pharaoh to let the people of Israel go out of his land.  3 But I will harden Pharaoh’s heart, and though I multiply My signs and wonders in the land of Egypt, 4 Pharaoh will not listen to you.  Then I will lay My hand on Egypt and bring My hosts, My people the children of Israel, out of the land of Egypt by great acts of judgment.  5 The Egyptians shall know that I am the LORD, when I stretch out my hand against Egypt and bring out the people of Israel from among them.” (ESV)

The first time we specifically see it stated that YHVH hardened Pharaoh’s heart is after the 6th plague of boils:

EXODUS 9:11 The magicians could not stand before Moses because of the boils, for the boils were on the magicians as well as on all the Egyptians.  12 And the LORD hardened Pharaoh’s heart, and he did not listen to them, just as the LORD had spoken to Moses. (NASU)

After hardening his heart to ensure that the punishment would continue, YHVH then threatened Pharaoh and Egypt with another horrible plague:

EXODUS 9:13 Then the LORD said to Moses, “Get up early in the morning, confront Pharaoh and say to him, ‘This is what the LORD, the God of the Hebrews, says:  Let My people go, so that they may worship Me, 14 or this time I will send the full force of My plagues against you and against your officials and your people, so you may know that there is no one like Me in all the earth.  15 For by now I could have stretched out My hand and struck you and your people with a plague that would have wiped you off the earth.  16 But I have raised you up for this very purpose, that I might show you My power and that My name might be proclaimed in all the earth.  17 You still set yourself against My people and will not let them go.  18 Therefore, at this time tomorrow I will send the worst hailstorm that has ever fallen on Egypt, from the day it was founded till now.’ ” (NIV)

YHVH clearly stated through Moses that He had raised up Pharaoh for the very purpose of revealing His power and glorifying His name through him.  Could Pharaoh have stopped the plagues by giving in to YHVH’s demand to let His people go?  No, we see from the very words of God that this was not an option.  YHVH’s plan required that all 10 plagues be poured out on Egypt, and nothing (not even Pharaoh himself) could have been allowed to stop that from happening.  YHVH the Father clearly and unambiguously states this fact over and over in the Exodus narrative:

EXODUS 10:1 Then the LORD said to Moses, “Go to Pharaoh, for I have hardened his heart and the hearts of his officials so that I may perform these miraculous signs of Mine among them 2 that you may tell your children and grandchildren how I dealt harshly with the Egyptians and how I performed My signs among them, and that you may know that I am the LORD.” (NIV)

Again, after the 8th plague of locusts, Pharaoh seemed ready to give in (Exo. 10:16-17).  However, we see that YHVH once more intervened and hardened the heart of Pharaoh to stop him from accepting Moses’ demands:

EXODUS 10:20 But the LORD hardened Pharaoh’s heart, and he did not let the Israelites go. (CSB)

Likewise, after the 9th plague of darkness, Pharaoh was ready to acquiesce to Moses’ request (Exo. 10:24).  But once again, YHVH did not allow him to do so:

EXODUS 10:27 But the LORD hardened Pharaoh’s heart, and he would not let them go. (JPS)

In Exodus chapter 11, Moses told Pharaoh of the 10th and final plague that would fall upon Egypt:  the death of the firstborn.  Hot with anger at Pharaoh’s refusal to let the Israelites go, Moses left Pharaoh’s presence:

EXODUS 11:9 Then the LORD said to Moses, “Pharaoh will not listen to you, that My wonders may be multiplied in the land of Egypt.”  10 Moses and Aaron did all these wonders before Pharaoh, and the LORD hardened Pharaoh’s heart, and he did not let the people of Israel go out of his land. (ESV)

Did Pharaoh have free will in this incident?  A literal reading and acceptance of the biblical account at face value shows that the intervention of YHVH was what caused Pharaoh to reject the requested release of the Israelites numerous times.  YHVH’s hardening of Pharaoh’s heart was the reason that the Egyptian firstborn died, and the reason that the Passover sacrifice was ultimately required.

Clearly this episode was NOT primarily about getting His people freed from slavery.  Rather it was about establishing a literal salvation from Egypt for the Israelite firstborn that would symbolize the later salvation the spiritual firstborn would have through the sacrifice of Yeshua the Messiah, our Passover (I Cor. 5:7).  The original was necessary to foreshadow the future.  Consequently, YHVH made sure that Pharaoh reacted in such a way that allowed that first Passover to occur as He had planned.

Now, back to the question Paul raised in Romans chapter 9:  Was YHVH unjust to punish Pharaoh after causing him to rebel against Him?  Paul initially deflected this question by saying that the created have no right to question what the Creator does (Rom. 9:19-21).

However, the apostle to the Gentiles then went on to explain that YHVH is using most in this age simply as “vessels of wrath” (Rom. 9:22) in the process of showing mercy to His “assembly of the firstborn” (Heb. 12:23).  Through these spiritual firstborn, YHVH will eventually have mercy on all (Rom. 11:30-31).

SENNACHERIB

For another example of predestination in the Tanakh, let’s look at the story of Sennacherib, the king of Assyria.  Sennacherib came against Jerusalem during the reign of Jewish king Hezekiah.  His envoy proclaimed to the Jews that they should not look to King Hezekiah or to YHVH their ELOHIM to save them.  After putting on sackcloth, King Hezekiah sent Eliakim, Shebna, and the senior priests to the prophet Isaiah for God’s input on the matter.  Here is the message from YHVH that Isaiah sent back to the king:

ISAIAH 37:21 Then Isaiah son of Amoz sent a message to Hezekiah:  “This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says:  Because you have prayed to Me concerning Sennacherib king of Assyria, 22 this is the word the LORD has spoken against him:  “The Virgin Daughter of Zion despises and mocks you.  The Daughter of Jerusalem tosses her head as you flee.  23 Who is it you have insulted and blasphemed?  Against whom have you raised your voice and lifted your eyes in pride?  Against the Holy One of Israel!  24 By your messengers you have heaped insults on the Lord.  And you have said, ‘With my many chariots I have ascended the heights of the mountains, the utmost heights of Lebanon.  I have cut down its tallest cedars, the choicest of its pines.  I have reached its remotest heights, the finest of its forests.  25 I have dug wells in foreign lands and drunk the water there.  With the soles of my feet I have dried up all the streams of Egypt.’  26 Have you not heard?  Long ago I ordained it.  In days of old I planned it; now I have brought it to pass, that you have turned fortified cities into piles of stone.  27 Their people, drained of power, are dismayed and put to shame.  They are like plants in the field, like tender green shoots, like grass sprouting on the roof, scorched before it grows up.  28 But I know where you stay and when you come and go and how you rage against Me.  29 Because you rage against Me and because your insolence has reached My ears, I will put My hook in your nose and My bit in your mouth, and I will make you return by the way you came.” (NIV)

Through Isaiah, YHVH told Hezekiah that He had long ago planned that which was then happening.  YHVH clearly stated that He had predestined and raised up Sennacherib and He had given him his victories over the nations he had conquered.  To punish his impudence, pride, and lack of recognition of YHVH’s hand in his successes, YHVH told King Hezekiah that He would drag Sennacherib back to Assyria in shame.

That very night, YHVH fulfilled His word regarding King Sennacherib:

II KINGS 19:35 And that night the angel of the LORD went out and struck down 185,000 in the camp of the Assyrians.  And when people arose early in the morning, behold, these were all dead bodies.  36 Then Sennacherib king of Assyria departed and went home and lived at Nineveh.  37 And as he was worshiping in the house of Nisroch his god, Adrammelech and Sharezer, his sons, struck him down with the sword and escaped into the land of Ararat.  And Esarhaddon his son reigned in his place. (ESV)

Clearly portrayed in this story is the fact that YHVH alone is sovereign and that He organizes the rise and fall of world leaders which includes Trump, and all before him not only in America, but leaders worldwide. (cf. Jer. 27:5 below).

NEBUCHADNEZZAR

In the prophecies of Jeremiah and Ezekiel, YHVH shows that Babylonian king Nebuchadnezzar was His servant, used to accomplish His divine will.  In addition, YHVH stated that the Babylonian kingdom would continue under Nebuchadnezzar, his son (Nabonidus), and his grandson (Belshazzar).  It was under the rule of Belshazzar that YHVH would raise up Cyrus the Persian to conquer Babylon:

JEREMIAH 25:9 “I will summon all the peoples of the north and My servant Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon,” declares the LORD, “and I will bring them against this land and its inhabitants and against all the surrounding nations.  I will completely destroy them and make them an object of horror and scorn, and an everlasting ruin.” (NIV)

JEREMIAH 27:5 “It is I who by My great power and My outstretched arm have made the earth, with the men and animals that are on the earth, and I give it to whomever it seems right to Me.  6 Now I have given all these lands into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar, the king of Babylon, My servant, and I have given him also the beasts of the field to serve him.  7 All the nations shall serve him and his son and his grandson, until the time of his own land comes.  Then many nations and great kings shall make him their slave.  8 But if any nation or kingdom will not serve this Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and put its neck under the yoke of the king of Babylon, I will punish that nation with the sword, with famine, and with pestilence, declares the LORD, until I have consumed it by his hand.  9 So do not listen to your prophets, your diviners, your dreamers, your fortune-tellers, or your sorcerers, who are saying to you, ‘You shall not serve the king of Babylon.’  10 For it is a lie that they are prophesying to you, with the result that you will be removed far from your land, and I will drive you out, and you will perish.  11 But any nation that will bring its neck under the yoke of the king of Babylon and serve him, I will leave on its own land, to work it and dwell there, declares the LORD.” (ESV)

EZEKIEL 29:18 “Son of man, Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon made his army labor hard against Tyre.  Every head was made bald, and every shoulder was rubbed bare, yet neither he nor his army got anything from Tyre to pay for the labor that he had performed against her.  19 Therefore thus says the Lord GOD:  Behold, I will give the land of Egypt to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon; and he shall carry off its wealth and despoil it and plunder it; and it shall be the wages for his army.  20 I have given him the land of Egypt as his payment for which he labored, because they worked for Me, declares the Lord GOD. (ESV)

JEREMIAH 43:10 “Then say to them, ‘This is what the LORD Almighty, the God of Israel, says:  I will send for My servant Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and I will set his throne over these stones I have buried here; he will spread his royal canopy above them.  11 He will come and attack Egypt, bringing death to those destined for death, captivity to those destined for captivity, and the sword to those destined for the sword.  12 He will set fire to the temples of the gods of Egypt; he will burn their temples and take their gods captive.  As a shepherd wraps his garment around him, so will he wrap Egypt around himself and depart from there unscathed.  13 There in the temple of the sun in Egypt he will demolish the sacred pillars and will burn down the temples of the gods of Egypt.’ ” (NIV)

YHVH gave Nebuchadnezzar victory and used him to afflict those nations He purposed to punish.  This Babylonian king was predestined by YHVH ELOHIM to accomplish His purpose during a critical period of Judah’s history.

CYRUS

Pharaoh, Sennacherib, and Nebuchadnezzar were not the only ancient rulers used by YHVH to further His divine plan.  The Persian king Cyrus was specifically named by YHVH through the prophet Isaiah as one who would be given victory by YHVH and then be used to fulfill His will:

ISAIAH 44:28 “It is I who says of Cyrus, ‘He is My shepherd!  And he will perform all My desire.’  And he declares of Jerusalem, ‘She will be built,’ and of the temple, ‘Your foundation will be laid.’ ” (NASU)

ISAIAH 45:1 “Thus says the LORD to His anointed, to Cyrus, whose right hand I have held — to subdue nations before him and loose the armor of kings, to open before him the double doors, so that the gates will not be shut:  2 ‘I will go before you and make the crooked places straight; I will break in pieces the gates of bronze and cut the bars of iron.  3 I will give you the treasures of darkness and hidden riches of secret places, that you may know that I, the LORD, who call you by your name, am the God of Israel.  4 For Jacob My servant’s sake, and Israel My elect, I have even called you by your name; I have named you, though you have not known Me.  5 I am the LORD, and there is no other; there is no God besides Me.  I will gird you, though you have not known Me, 6 that they may know from the rising of the sun to its setting that there is none besides Me.  I am the LORD, and there is no other;’ ” (NKJV)

EZRA 1:1 Now in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, that the word of the LORD by the mouth of Jeremiah might be fulfilled, the LORD stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, so that he made a proclamation throughout all his kingdom, and also put it in writing, saying, 2 Thus says Cyrus king of Persia:  All the kingdoms of the earth the LORD God of heaven has given me.  And He has commanded me to build Him a house at Jerusalem which is in Judah. (NKJV)

Yehovah Elohim raised up Cyrus for the express purpose of bringing about the downfall of Babylon and allowing His people, the Jews, to return to Jerusalem and rebuild the Temple there.  Cyrus was predestined to accomplish a specific task for Almighty Yehovah, and the Eternal Father ensured that he successfully completed His purpose.

JEREMIAH

The prophet Jeremiah is one of several people mentioned in the Scriptures who was known by YHVH before they were born:

JEREMIAH 1:4 The word of the LORD came to me, saying, 5 “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.”  6 “Ah, Sovereign LORD,” I said, “I do not know how to speak; I am only a child.”  7 But the LORD said to me, “Do not say, ‘I am only a child.’  You must go to everyone I send you to and say whatever I command you.” (NIV)

According to the very words of YHVH, Jeremiah did not have the free will to do anything other than what He told him to do.

Who I am and my calling not of my own decision:

Now let’s move on to the New Testament to see others, both good and bad, who were predestined to fulfill God’s purpose:

JOHN THE BAPTIST

The story of John the Baptist is generally well known to most Christians.  The words of the angel Gabriel to his priestly father, Zechariah, plainly show that John was predestined from before his birth to be the prophesied messenger announcing the first appearance of the Messiah:

LUKE 1:13 But the angel said to him:  “Do not be afraid, Zechariah; your prayer has been heard.  Your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you are to give him the name John.  14 He will be a joy and delight to you, and many will rejoice because of his birth, 15 for he will be great in the sight of the Lord.  He is never to take wine or other fermented drink, and he will be filled with the Holy Spirit even from birth.  16 Many of the people of Israel will he bring back to the Lord their God.  17 And he will go on before the Lord, in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of the fathers to their children and the disobedient to the wisdom of the righteous — to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.” (NIV)

John was a relative of Yeshua due to his mother Elizabeth being kin to Mary (Luke 1:36).  He had no say in how his life would turn out.  John was selected by YHVH before his birth and tasked with a particular mission (the preaching of repentance in preparation for the kingdom of God) that ended with his death at the hands of Herod Antipas.  From before his conception until his death, John’s path was charted by Yehovah Elohim.

THE BLIND MAN AT THE TEMPLE

JOHN 9:1 As he passed by, he saw a man blind from birth.  2 And his disciples asked him, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?”  3 Jesus answered, “It was not that this man sinned, or his parents, but that the works of God might be displayed in him.” (ESV)

According to the words of the Messiah himself, this man had been born blind in order for Yeshua to bring praise to YHVH’s name by giving him sight.  This man’s entire life, including the years of suffering he experienced due to his blindness, was a prelude to Yeshua’s miraculous healing.  He was predestined for just that moment and just that miracle, so Yeshua could glorify YHVH through him.

JUDAS ISCARIOT

The eternal fate of Judas Iscariot, the betrayer of the Messiah, has long been debated in the Christian world.  However, what does not appear to be debatable is whether or not Judas acted of his own free will when he betrayed Yeshua.  The Scriptures clearly indicate that Judas was preordained to be a traitor to Yeshua’s cause, leading to his crucifixion:

JOHN 6:64 “But there are some of you who do not believe.”  For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were who did not believe, and who would betray him. (NKJV)

JOHN 17:12 While I was with them, I kept them in your name, which you have given me. I have guarded them, and not one of them has been lost except the son of destruction, that the Scripture might be fulfilled.” (ESV)

ACTS 1:16 “Friends, the Scripture had to be fulfilled, which the Holy Spirit through David foretold concerning Judas, who became a guide for those who arrested Jesus— 17 for he was numbered among us and was allotted his share in this ministry.” (NRSV)

GENTILES IN ANTIOCH IN PISIDIA

Are there some who are destined by the Eternal Father to be in the millennial kingdom of YHVH?

ACTS 13:44 On the next Sabbath almost the whole city gathered to hear the word of the Lord.  45 When the Jews saw the crowds, they were filled with jealousy and talked abusively against what Paul was saying.  46 Then Paul and Barnabas answered them boldly:  “We had to speak the word of God to you first.  Since you reject it and do not consider yourselves worthy of eternal life, we now turn to the Gentiles.  47 For this is what the Lord has commanded us:  ‘I have made you a light for the Gentiles, that you may bring salvation to the ends of the earth.’ ”  48 When the Gentiles heard this, they were glad and honored the word of the Lord; and all who were appointed for eternal life believed. (NIV)

Clearly, the Scriptures teach that those Gentiles in Antioch in Pisidia who believed the preaching of Paul and Barnabas were preordained by YHVH to enjoy age-lasting life during the millennial reign of Messiah Yeshua.

PAUL THE APOSTLE

After his conversion, Paul understood YHVH had predestined him from the time that he was born for the work of taking the gospel to the Gentiles:

GALATIANS 1:15 But when God, who set me apart from birth and called me by His grace, was pleased 16 to reveal His Son in me so that I might preach him among the Gentiles, I did not consult any man, (NIV)

Paul knew that this preordained responsibility was not due to anything he had personally done.  Rather, it was that Elohim showed him unmerited favor (“grace”) in calling him.  Paul’s letters indicate that he fully realized just how personally unworthy he was for the task that God assigned him:

I CORINTHIANS 15:9 For I am the least of the apostles, and not fit to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. (NASU)

EPHESIANS 3:8 To me, though I am the very least of all the saints, this grace was given, to preach to the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ, (ESV)

Paul was the most prolific writer in the New Testament regarding the doctrine of predestination.  Having been personally instructed by the glorified Messiah, he understood YHVH’s plan.  Paul knew Elohim had charted out the path of his life, and that he was destined to run the race on the course God had laid out for him:

ACTS 20:22 “And now, compelled by the Spirit, I am going to Jerusalem, not knowing what will happen to me there.  23 I only know that in every city the Holy Spirit warns me that prison and hardships are facing me.  24 However, I consider my life worth nothing to me, if only I may finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me — the task of testifying to the gospel of God’s grace.” (NIV)

HEBREWS 12:1 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. (NIV)

At the end of his life, Paul recognized that he had successfully completed the race YHVH had set before him to run:

II TIMOTHY 4:6 For I am already being poured out like a drink offering, and the time has come for my departure.  7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.  8 Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that Day — and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing. (NIV)

At the end of his life, after he had successfully completed that which YHVH had assigned him to do, Paul realized that he would be one of the few chosen from among the many that YHVH calls (Matt. 20:16; 22:14).  He understood that because he had faithfully carried out YHVH’s will, he would be rewarded with a place in the coming kingdom of God.

The “many are called but few are chosen” principle is YHVH’s counterbalance to an understanding of predestination.  Even Paul, who was aware that God had predestined him to take the gospel to the Gentiles, did not know for sure if he would finish his race successfully (I Cor. 9:24-27).  YHVH only chooses a few from among the many that He calls in order to conceal from those who are now called their immediate fate.  If He didn’t do this, being called by YHVH during this age could be absolutely equated with qualifying for a position as a priest/king in the coming Messianic kingdom.  Since YHVH doesn’t want His saints to be complacent, the “many called/few chosen” formula is a way to introduce uncertainty into the equation.

Is YHVH Responsible for Man’s Suffering?

“OK,” some will say, “there appears to be biblical evidence that some people are predestined by Elohim for certain things.  But surely that can’t mean that He involves Himself in the lives of every single human being on the planet, can it?”

Well, let’s see what the Messiah has to say about the extent of God’s control over the physical world in the fulfillment of His divine will:

MATTHEW 10:29 “Are not two sparrows sold for a penny?  Yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from the will of your Father.  30 And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered.  31 So don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.” (NIV)

If not one single sparrow falls to the ground apart from the will of Yehovah the Father, how much control do you think He exercises over mankind?  We don’t have to wonder, because the Messiah clearly tells us that WE are much more important to YHVH than many sparrows.  If He has numbered the very hairs of our heads, does YHVH care enough about us to be intricately involved in our everyday lives?  The scriptural and logical answer is “Yes.”

Most cannot fathom the idea that ELOHIM has preordained the destinies of billions of people.  Despite numerous Scriptures to the contrary, the concept of free will is so deeply ingrained in the religious beliefs of most that they cannot accept that Yehovah Elohim has predestined the lives (and ultimately, the salvation) of all mankind.

Many will object that YHVH cannot be in charge of every detail of each person’s life, because if He was, then He would be directly  responsible for all human suffering and pain on the earth.  Most cannot accept that YHVH would cause the horrific misery that is evident in this world.  Therefore, they rationalize that God doesn’t specifically cause what happens, but rather He simply allows it to occur because He has given His sentient creatures free will, and many of them have chosen to do evil.

Unfortunately, this rationalization doesn’t let YHVH off the hook.  If He truly is omnipresent, omniscient and omnipotent, He has the presence, knowledge, and power to stop the suffering that happens.  To have that power and not make use of it to end human misery means YHVH is complicit in the suffering.  Either way it is viewed, YHVH bears responsibility for the suffering that humanity endures.

If YHVH is powerful enough to stop all suffering (and the Scriptures assert that He is), then why does YHVH ELOHIM not end it?  Could it be because this suffering ultimately serves YHVH’s purpose of bringing many sons into His family?

ROMANS 8:18 I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.  19 The creation waits in eager expectation for the sons of God to be revealed.  20 For the creation was subjected to frustration, not by its own choice, but by the will of the One who subjected it, in hope 21 that the creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the glorious freedom of the children of God.  22 We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time.  23 Not only so, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies.  24 For in this hope we were saved.  But hope that is seen is no hope at all.  Who hopes for what he already has?  25 But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently. (NIV)

Paul states that YHVH subjected His creation to frustration and decay, but that He will liberate it from these impediments when His children are revealed.  While Paul doesn’t go into the details, he clearly conveys a certainty that the present sufferings of humanity will pale in comparison to the glory that will be manifested in mankind when this portion of Yehovah’s plan is completed.

The prophet Isaiah quotes a promise from YHVH that all the pain and suffering of this present world will one day be forgotten when He creates a new heavens and a new earth:

ISAIAH 65:17 “Behold, I will create new heavens and a new earth.  The former things will not be remembered, nor will they come to mind.” (NIV)

Even the Messiah was required to suffer while he was on this earth.  This wasn’t suffering simply for the sake of suffering, but rather suffering with a purpose and goal.  This suffering contributed to Yeshua becoming complete, as the author of Hebrews tells us twice:

HEBREWS 2:9 But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels, now crowned with glory and honor because he suffered death, so that by the grace of God he might taste death for everyone.  10 In bringing many sons to glory, it was fitting that God, for whom and through whom everything exists, should make the author of their salvation perfect through suffering. (NIV)

HEBREWS 5:7 In the days of his flesh, Jesus offered up prayers and supplications, with loud cries and tears, to Him who was able to save him from death, and he was heard because of his reverence.  8 Although he was a son, he learned obedience through what he suffered.  9 And being made perfect, he became the source of eternal salvation to all who obey him, (ESV)

If the Messiah had to suffer in order to learn obedience and be made “perfect” or “complete,” why should we expect anything different?  Is a slave greater than his master?  No, the best we should expect is to be like our Master (Matt. 10:24-25).  Since the Father decreed that our Master Yeshua had to suffer in order to be perfected, we too should expect YHVH the Father to put us through trials and tribulations in order for us to reach spiritual maturity and attain godly character (Jam. 1:2-4).

The primary difference between Yeshua and us is that he had a preexistent relationship with YHVH the heavenly Father and fully understood Elohim’s will and what was expected of him.  We, unfortunately, do not always know Elohim’s will for us.  We can only determine it by studying the Scriptures, developing a relationship with YHVH through regular prayer, and asking Him to reveal His will to us through His Holy Spirit.

Conclusion

The Scriptures portray YHVH the Father as being omnipotent.  Because of His incomparable power, there is nothing that YHVH cannot achieve.  Since He created and sustains all things through His Holy Spirit, no being within Yehovah’s creation is able to thwart His plan or purpose.  Several times, Elohim states in the Scriptures that His will is to eventually save all mankind.  His chosen vessel for accomplishing this salvation is His son Yeshua the Messiah.

Per His plan, YHVH has called many people now to worship Him.  However, from those many called, only a few will be chosen to be saved (Matt. 20:16; 22:14) in this age.  YHVH’s purpose in saving those few now is so that they can in turn help save others later.  Most are destined to be used by ELOHIM at this time to extend His mercy to those few.  YHVH’s plan calls for using most people in this age to show His wrath and to make His power and glory known to those on whom He is having mercy (Rom. 9:22-23).  Seeing and recognizing YHVH’s wrath and power causes those He has called and chosen to fear Him.  According to the Scriptures, the fear of YHVH leads to obedience, which brings us wisdom (Job 28:28; Psa. 111:10; Pro. 9:10; 15:33), knowledge (Pro. 1:17; 2:5), and life (Pro. 10:27; 14:27; 19:23; 22:4).

YEHOVAH ELOHIM planned in exquisite detail how to bring many sons into His family before He created the universe.  Unfortunately, as the apostle Paul stated, YHVH’s decrees are unfathomable and His ways incomprehensible to most of mankind (Rom. 11:33).  He has blinded the majority so that they cannot understand His plan or how it is being accomplished.  Even among believers, what YHVH is doing is not well understood.  However, when all is said and done, it will be recognized by everyone that YHVH alone is responsible for the salvation of humanity.  No one will be able to boast that they played any part in their own salvation.  It is by Yehovah’s grace alone, not our works, that our Father will bring us into His divine family.  In this way, Elohim the Father will receive all the praise and glory from His children for His merciful act of salvation.
